Yes I read it before posting. If I've got my maths right, I think in this case the gap is too big and I'd be out of pocket, more than I'd gain, so will just go ahead as it is this time. Thanks for responding.

Totally up to you how much admin you are prepared to do but don't forget Avon's 90 Day No Quibble Guarantee and, of course, sometimes customers do give you orders but then can't afford them or just plain change their minds so you end up with goods you are unable to deliver.

Realise that some upliners are totally against returning goods but I tell my customers I'd much prefer them to order and try something than not order it at all. Appreciate it's each to their own though....

  • well i've been signing some reps up to try and grow my team, i have 6 leads but 2 cancelled so only 4 now this week :( going recruiting tomorrow so i can hopefully get some more leads for next week. Was a bit disheartened to find out to make avon pay a full time wage you need to be recruiting 10 ppl a week for about a year, looks like i'm stuck with the day job lol
  • I've just found out that one of the roads I've been given by my SL is actually someone elses area that they have been doing for a year! I had four orders from this area in my last campaign and my SL didn't catch me in time befor eI put out 40 brochures for Campaign 15, so I now have to go round and get all my books back and potentially lose my existing customers.

I'm really upset, I've worked so hard to get this far and its now all for nothing, she's now offered me another road in a really rough area and was surprised when I refused it! I'm seriously thinking of calling the ASM tomorrow and requesting a change of SL, I don't want to leave but I'm not impressed by her so far.

Sorry for the rant but I'm really disappointed. :(

Just thought I'd give you a positive update after my rant the other day! I spoke to my ASM for the first time yesterday, who was BRILLIANT! Shes has allocated me some brilliant new roads, much better than before and also told me I can keep my existing customers, so good news. She is also going to meet with me next week to talk me through being a Sales Leader after I told her I was interested in becoming a SL as soon as possible.

Feeling much more positive now and am up early this morning to prep my next lot of brochures to post out to my new area.

Thank you for your replies before and I'm really looking forward to the next few days now as I carry on with my current campaign. :j

Interesting figures.... never heard that before but SLship definitely is a 'jam tomorrow' scenario.

It was explained to me once that as you move up through the ranks the rewards are disproportionate to the amount of effort required i.e. SLs initially put in a lot of effort for little reward but eventually you get more reward for less effort. Ever hopeful but time will tell! :rotfl:

Good luck to you (and everyone else) with your Avon business.

PS: Don't forget it's not all about just recruiting; the training and managing takes more time and is far more valuable in my book.

Hi i am looking at the baskets in HT 17 and wondering if i buy one of each and do a raffle - maybe £1 a ticket and 1st, 2nd, 3rd prize is this allowed or do i need some kind of licence for doing a raffle. I generally do a prize draw each campaign and enter everyone who places an order but this is slightly different as they have to actually buy a ticket.

Maybe you can get round it by offering a free ticket for a certain spend such as £10 or £20. I'm sure it's got more to do with the fact that you want to sell tickets rather than give them away. TBH, don't think any of mine would buy a ticket anyway so wouldn't cover the costs.

As regards cheques, when I first started I accepted them with a card only. Mind you, the card used to guarantee them a few years ago. I suggest sticking with cash to start with. I do take cheques now but my customers have been with me a while.

  • Sorry if this has been asked before, I have looked through and can't see an answer.
I am returning the £50 bumper box and am unable to find it listed on my online invoice, although it is there on the printed one.
Does anyone know how to do this, or do I have to wait until the next invoice, as they split the payments, but the first £25 is definitely being charged?
    Thank you,

Yes you will be out of pocket, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad thing.

If you top up your order to £148 your invoice will be £111
If you leave it at £107.62 your invoice will be £86.10

Therefore the £40.38 of products that you would need to buy would only actually cost you £24.90. Pointless if there's nothing you want, but I'd probably use it as a chance to stock up on shampoos and bubble baths and maybe use some of the items as free gifts - stick a note in with your brochures saying "free gift with orders over £15" and you might entice new customers and bigger orders in your next campaign.

Don't forget that it's not just your customer orders that go towards target - all of your brochures, bags, demos and samples do aswell, so it could also be a chance to stock up on that kind of stuff which you are always going to need in future.

    Good luck x

There are rules regarding this, http://www.raffleticketprinting.co.uk/random-thoughts/letter-of-the-law
That should tell you all you need to know.HTH :D

Surely it then falls under private raffle and doesn't need a license... You're not advertising to the general public, just your 'group' of customers.

"Private Raffle: If tickets will be offered only to a defined group, such as members of a club or employees of the same organisation, and the raffle will not be advertised or available outside this group, a Private Raffle will be appropriate. In this case, you will also not need a licence."

This is a very good point, you could order your next lot of brochures ahead of time, and things you are going to need. (Just remember you have ordered them so you don't put them through again next time!) Other good things to buy: cheap incentives for customers, shower gel / shampoo etc for your own use (cheaper than most brands) Anything you can sell for £1 and make a profit! I sell quite a few things this way. :D
Still looking for the plot...... Anyone seen it???
