Waiting times - I collect brochures as close to the order date as I can to have the psychological effect of not waiting too long, even though their delivery date would be the same every 3 weeks no matter what! ;)

Saying that, one section of my round has to wait 2 weeks between collection and delivery (compared to 1 week, and 1 week and 1 day for my other two sections). Nobody's ever complained.

My order goes in on a Tuesday so I collect books in on (working backwards in time):
    Monday - zone 1
    Sunday - zone 2
    Wednesday - zone 3

Zone 3 has to be Wed for personal reasons. Husband drops me off so Sat is out because he's out on Saturdays, Thu is out because it's sometimes football on that night, and Fridays are just an evening I'd rather not be out on in case of "youths", plus people could be out. :D To be fair, the one time I've come across hoodies they moved their bike out of the way for me without even asking.

I include a little slip (can fit 10 to an A4 sheet with a nice big font) saying when I'm collecting and then in smaller writing underneath, when I'm delivering. To let people plan for birthdays, going away etc... before they order. And then I confirm the delivery date again with those who've ordered after placing my order.
I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for. :( I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.
  • Yr v welcome - am guessing by your handle that yr 'North of the Border'? Any SL can check what reps there are near you but only your ASM will have the exact details.

Just a little word of caution, if you've applied direct to Avon your enquiry will go to your ASM and I believe they've been told at the mo that they have to do their own sign-ups. Suppose it makes sense to Avon being that they won't then pay out SL commission.... A long-serving ASM may still pass the leads on to their 'preferred' SLs but if you get an ASM new to Avon then it could be a bit of a lottery as to how much support (or even knowledge) you'll get.

(Here in the South West we have a lot of newly appointed ASMs and certainly at the mo you'd deffo be better off signing with a good, local SL.... )

PM me your postcode if you like (or one near you) and I'll gladly check out how many reps are in your vicinity.

PS: Actually a good time for anyone to start at the mo because not only are Avon bringing in a 'fitness trainers' (really great for toning legs, whilst doing your rounds) but all new reps appointed C8-10 have the opportunity to get £70 worth of free goods for introducing another new rep.

    HI Marsden,
just wondered if you could check how may reps are in my vicinity as well, sorry if am bieng cheeky....but how can i PM you?

    Hi all,

Haven't had much to say about avon recently. Missed out on a superb opportunity on my sales although really it was not mine to take. Perhaps I will learn to grab first and check later as it doesn't pay to do things the right way and another rep has got in there. I just hope she has the ASM's approval.

Campaign 8 has been pretty dire with orders lower than last year and not a lot of interest in it. Fingers crossed for C9.

My waiting times are as follows:
Day 1 monday - order arrives.
Day 2 tuesday - I deliver to my customers on my round and drop off next brochure.
Day 3 wednesday - I deliver to shops/out of town customers.
Day 8 monday - collect brochures from customers on my round
Day 8 monday to day 10 wednesday - somewhere on these days I will brochure drop to customers who didn't place an order last campaign.
Day 15 monday - collect brochures from customers who didn't place an order last campaign. Collect orders from shops/out of town customers and replace brochure with next one.
Day 16 tuesday - place order online.
Day 21 monday - order arrives.

  • Hey guys,

I thought I'd report back with how I'm getting on with my campaign numero uno.

I managed to get two orders out of F&F which was about £50 which I was super chuffed with. To be quite honest I don't like mixing my personal life with business so haven't been really been publicizing it to much past making a facebook page with a personal URL to my POB and inviting my mates. I may drive this a bit harder next time but I wanted to focus more on my territory first couple of times. That way if I need to make a push to reach MOV and HOV then I can fall back on my F&F who I can use slightly different tactics with (that sounds a bit ominous but I meant it in a good way!)

So I dropped on Tuesday and I only had 30 catalogues (Road of 170 houses eek!) Tried to knock but nobody was really in. Made a concisous effort not to chicken out and dropped at the No Junk Mail/No Cold Calling places as I know I'm within my rights to as we're covered under the DSA and are not classed as this. Made sure I left them outside though instead of through the door so if they are a bit uppity I can get them back.

Then yesterday lo! and behold my phone rang when I was at work. Nice lady from the road (with a cold calling sign) saying that she got the catalogue, when I come round next time can she have an extra three plus three more order forms. Turns out she does the orders for the girls at work who's avon ladies either a) don't exist or b) never show up. She apologised as she has, and I quote, " A big order" for me and said she hoped that it would be ok if she put in a big order every time. She doesn't want to be a nuisance. I near off started dancing around my office! So going round today to pick up the catalogues and do some door knocking again. So pleased!

Will let you know how I get on. :T

Wow sounds like a great start hopefully a sign of things to come :)

I have some fantastic news to share - I'm pregnant :D I'm 13 weeks tomorrow so still a while to go lol, but one reason I haven't been posting as much as I've been feeling really rotten some days, other days are fine. Work & family know - they are super excited and work have been great at altering what I do (I work in a lab so can't do certain things now). DH has been his usual lovely self and doing basically all of the housework so I can rest more :)
Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A
