Sounds like Avon would be perfect for you! :j
Lots of great hints/tips on here as you've probably already read but to answer your specific queries:
* All reps can offer a book to anyone they know personally (Friends and Family) and that includes anyone, who requests a book from you i.e. friends of friends, 'friends' on FB, Twitter, etc. Now we have POB/Personal Online Brochures that also extends to you being able to email a link to your POB to yr F&F +/- post up your actual POB on FB etc.
* In addition some reps choose to cover territory. That depends on whereabouts you live, how many other Avon reps there are near you (and how 'good' your ASM/Area Sales Manager and/or Upliner are). Generally, new reps are offered approx. £150/200 worth of territory, which could be anything from 100-150 houses, again depending on where you live.
* Do-able without a car? Yes, provided you're quite fit and like walking. I generally walk as much as I can but revert to using my car for deliveries (and recruiting)
* Avon is totally versatile so fits easily round any other job (in fact having another job is useful because they'd also be classed as part of your F&F network)
As you've probably already read on here, doing your homework about whose team you join is also well worth it too; a good upliner is priceless.
Good luck; hope you take the plunge - TBH you won't earn a great deal as a rep but you'll have lots of fun trying out all the products and it will have a positive benefit on your household budget (+ the 90 day no-quibble guarantee is :T )Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

Hi MC,
That's fab advice! Thank you for that.Sounds good to me. Not massively fit but I'll give it a go. Next hurdle is convincing my husband. We've both got pretty full on jobs so time together is rare but I need to find another way to earn pennies for paying off cards and driving lessons so I think this could be the way. I've requested details/call back so fingers crossed should hear soon. I live in a very densley populated area and we used to have an Avon Rep but they seem to have vanished so could be quite good for me

Just to add to MCs great advice above, both me & my husband are reps, we work full time (he does 56 hours a week), but we fit avon in quite well. The first few campaigns will be the hardest while you build your customer base up, and get quicker at sorting your delivery (took me ages to start with but not long at all now and our orders are twice as big as they used to be). The best thing is to be organised, get contact info for your customers (and make sure they have yours), so you can let them know a day & time that you'll be delivering (I usually text about 5 days beforehand), then if they aren't going to be in you can rearrange. It'll save a lot of time, packing your books etc can be done while you watch tv, but obviously you have to go out for your deliveries. Depending on our shifts we both go out delivering at the same time, he drives and delivers books to people, while I take the orders. Means were still sort of together but it All gets done quite quickly. Obviously bit harder with you not driving, but could be a chance for you both to get a bit of fresh air together?Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0

What would the average order value be? - on another Avon forum a while back I remember lots of people replying to a thread about average order per customer and we were all remarkably similar. £10-15 was what everyone came back with. I've just looked at mine and £12-15 is the norm, dropping to £8-10 in the new year and rising to £15-17 in the run-up to Christmas.I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for.
I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.

Yr v welcome - am guessing by your handle that yr 'North of the Border'? Any SL can check what reps there are near you but only your ASM will have the exact details.
Just a little word of caution, if you've applied direct to Avon your enquiry will go to your ASM and I believe they've been told at the mo that they have to do their own sign-ups. Suppose it makes sense to Avon being that they won't then pay out SL commission.... A long-serving ASM may still pass the leads on to their 'preferred' SLs but if you get an ASM new to Avon then it could be a bit of a lottery as to how much support (or even knowledge) you'll get.
(Here in the South West we have a lot of newly appointed ASMs and certainly at the mo you'd deffo be better off signing with a good, local SL.... )
PM me your postcode if you like (or one near you) and I'll gladly check out how many reps are in your vicinity.
PS: Actually a good time for anyone to start at the mo because not only are Avon bringing in a 'fitness trainers' (really great for toning legs, whilst doing your rounds) but all new reps appointed C8-10 have the opportunity to get £70 worth of free goods for introducing another new rep.Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

Oh wow that's all fab! I'm actually as far down south as possible but all my usual handles had been taken!!
I've got a lady coming over today, I spoke to the ASM who referred me to her. She said she's been doing it for a long time and they both sound fab. I told the ASM about my background and she got really excited and said I sounded like an idea candidate to be a SL.
Husband said it's all good, he gets a little bit wary about me wondering about in the dark lol. But the ASM said that nobody is currently covering my roads. It's a good area as well and I know for a fact the lady that used to live in my house bought loads from Avon (she left us a gift basket of stuff when we moved in full of the stuff)
I'm gearing myself up for a 5k run later this year so the extra fitness is definitely going to be a bonus and with regards to building up your customer base and it can take time. It's the same as my current job really, you get out what you put in, the more thorough and organised you are the better your results will be and the one thing I've learnt is persistence is the key. My initial plan, though this could change after speaking to the SL, is to do a door knock when I do my first rounds. Introduce myself, see if they are interested first (no point dropping catalogues if they aren't interested I guess!) ask if they want me to keep an eye out for any products etc as well and leave them my card as well.
Ooh so excited!:T0 -
Good for you, really pleased and yes, SLship is deffo the way if you want to turn Avon into a career/earn a living from it.
Let us know how your meeting with your SL goes pls but sounds like it's a good supportive network you've got and, yes, couldn't agree more about your initial plans.
Good luck!Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

hi ladies!
Just wondering if any of you are trendsetter reps? I am, and i find my new books sit in my house for a week before i put them out because of the long delivery date.
Do customers mind that they have to wait so long? thanks0 -
Hi VickyH,
Customers get used to knowing they have to wait for their Avon delivery - in most cases that enables them to plan re. their money, etc.
Rather than wait a week, why not do extra drops i.e. to mimimise the amount of books you need to buy or on the other side of the scale do 'one stop selling' so all your customers have an Avon book constantly?Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)
