Sneeky, IG, but useful at times. ;) Be careful though, Avon seem to be tightening their system re. returns/credits. Slightly different but similar.... as from 1 August they will also no longer credit back late payment charges. My guess is that the new CEO has got a new brush! :rotfl:

Thanks I, Geek and MarsdenCuckoo ... I'm sure I'll be able to find her something else and will have a hunt around in the other brochures to see if that 'strategy' could be of use :)

Do you have any more info on this? I get the most out of returns (i.e. sending back the version with the most credit) and always have a bit of stock in the house that gets returned if it doesn't sell.
I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for. :( I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.

Not really; just be careful about the codes and if you bought something that came with a free gift then that needs to be returned too otherwise Avon may recharge you full price for the 'free gift(s)'. To be fair that's been on the welcome message when you ring Avon for months now so people have had lots of notice. Prices do go up and down as you've noticed so theoretically there are opportunities (and pitfalls :( ) there but you can't blame Avon for tightening their controls re. people openly abusing their returns policy.

Was talking to a customer a while ago, who told me that she'd bought a deal '3 for £5' off her previous rep and had wanted to return one of the items but the rep refused. She told her she either kept/paid for all 3 or paid full price for the other two. Personally, think that's a bit extreme (so did the customer because she now buys from me... :rotfl:). The deals do get complicated - especially 3 for 2/lower priced item free, which tend to automatically link when you input your order irrespective of which customer ordered what. It's easy to lose out on those if you're not careful i.e. if a customer wants to return something but you've actually been charged differently as the system has combined it with another customer's order. (I input my order as one but maybe that problem is now solved as we have the facility to input customer orders individually? Anyone know?)

Hope that helps rather than confuses.

Thanks for explaining re. returns. :) I was wondering if it was one of those times Avon tells SLs something important but neglects to tell reps.

I've always done returns by doing a search for a keyword. Must admit I've not paid much attention to product codes to see if they're different, but I always keep an eye on linked free gifts and make a note to return that as well if nec. So if I've searched for "remover" it'll show all the nail polish removers I've sold and are available for credit. If in doubt I check to make sure no freebie was linked. Although once I genuinely forgot and they didn't charge me. :o

And of course you have to be careful if they change the formula/packaging. ;)

Yes, sometimes it's difficult when returning stock (particularly stock held for a few campaigns) to remember if it actually came with a free gift or not so accidents happen. Unlike Creative Ordering where, generally if it's full price there will either be a better deal in the other book or there's a freebie attached, you can't guarantee that when it comes to needing to return things. Sometimes I just stock up on my (customers') fave products to make sure I have them when needed and they're not o-o-s. Almost turn it into a game to 'guess' what I need before my customers actually order.... :rotfl:

  • I am starting to get the idea of think creative ordering ( I think).
In c13 a customer ordered 2 skin so soft hair minimising products for £5.99 but when I checked c14 they were on offer at £2.50 each. So I ordered from c14 and will still charge her £5.99.
    Is that the idea?
I've also noticed you can join peoples orders together ie/ 2 for £?
if 2 separate people order a product you can get the discounted price but still charge them the full price, this has confused me a bit but that isn't difficult haha.

Yep that's exactly right :) its well worth doing, you can either earn yourself a bit extra, or get some products free/at a great discount which can either use yourself, keep in stock, or use as free gifts for customers. Once you've got the hang of it it's really quick to do :)
