Pretty sure it would be an easy matter for Avon to clamp down on all the FB sites contravening the T&Cs - websites are another matter....

Well so far it seems that websites (SL ones) are what they've been tough on. Gail Reynolds had to change hers. I agree it would be pretty easy to deal with FB ones if they contact FB themselves and get them to sort it out.
I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for. :( I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.

Wonder what they will do about all the other mediums? Linkedin, facebook, twitter, etc ....

Sure as/when Avon want to clamp down on this they will. All these mediums use 'Avon' to facilitate subscribers being able to find them - that's a simple route for Avon to follow too. ;)

Our new CEO was appointed recently so guess changes are ahead....

ooh wonder what changes that will bring. But can you imagine the size of the team and the recording they will need to clamp down on each medium for each one using an avon name!

I mean you have Google +, linked in, twitter, My Space, stumble upon, delicious, gumtree, craigslist, facebook, all the different mail servers etc.

    good luck Avon! :rotfl:
  • Avon official take on the word AVON.

No other business name may be included. If, for example, a Sales Leader also sells “XYZ Toys”, that name cannot appear in the ad with “AVON”. Otherwise, customers could assume that Avon and XYZ Toys are affiliated in some way.

Any personal e-mail referenced on a Sales Leader’s own website should not include the word ‘Avon’ in any form.

Any URLs referenced for a Sales Leader's own website should not include the word 'Avon' in any form unless it is a URL provided by Avon. Please note that this includes all social media, blogging sites and advertising webpage URLs. On some advertising websites you may need to be aware of what title you give your advert as this may be reflected in the URL.

Sales Leaders must have the rights to use any images on their own website. Express permission must be obtained from the person who took the photo/drew the picture, or a Sales Leader can take a photo/draw an image themselves. Sales Leaders can also use pre-approved Avon images from the Approved images library.

Celebrity references or images should not be used as the agreements between Avon and the celebrity are complicated, varied and can be easily misconstrued.
The official Avon logo can be used on a Sales Leader’s own website provided that Sales Leaders do so in accordance with these guidelines. To download the Avon logo/Sales Leadership logo go to the Corporate logos section.

Sales Leader’s own websites must comply with the requirements of the Direct Selling Association’s (DSA) Codes of Practice, which must be respected by Avon and all Sales Leaders and Representatives. For full details of the requirements of the DSA Codes of Practice please go to The DSA codes section of this guidance.

Really don't think it would be that difficult, A, armed with all the search technology. Also very easy for Avon to close down a rep/SLs account for contravening their terms and conditions.

Anyone, who has invested in both time and money to build up a good strong business, will surely have the commonsense not to put that at risk.

Thanks for the statement from Avon - but it's just directed at SLs, which makes me think Avon have been caught out by reps setting up pages on social networking sites.

Yes, you're quite right - it is only aimed at SLs but to earn a 'living wage' out of Avon pretty sure you need to go into SLship so guess Avon reckon they only need to enforce their T&Cs at that level.

Of course I could be wrong.....

This makes sense, although when I posted about using Avon in e-mail addresses (specifically as a rep), Avon's response was to quote a bit of the T&Cs on our rep agreement (point 6.3 about intellectual property rights). The person from HO added to the legal gumpf by clarifying that reps can't use it in an e-mail either.

Yes, know it may seem a pain at times but Avon do 'protect' us by providing us with all the legal stuff that we need to know e.g. check out your website now for what NOT to use re. the Olympics.....

There are not many companies, who have been going for 126+ years and it's only right that Avon protect their brand name even though it may seem unfair as a rep/SL not to be able to use it.

I've come to realise that using the term 'commission' instead of 'discount' can be misleading. I had one new team member ask me recently when she would receive her commission from Avon and how they would pay her.... :undecided
