We always lag behind the States when it comes to things like this and im sure HP are not too bothered if the item is reduced in the UK on a Saturday or a Monday - They have washed their hands of the product and lost $$ already so its hardly an important product launch/fire sale for them.
Also we have no idea how much stock there is to shift in the UK - I doubt its very much at all and HP will not be rushing to get more shipped here if they can sell it in countries that are holding stock. Its widely reported that 'Best Buy' in the US had 300,000 TouchPads in stock, I very much doubt that all the companies selling it in the UK added together have a quarter of that!
In that case, I think it's about time the UK subsidiaries of these (mainly US-led) companies started to stick up for their UK consumers. They should be demanding parity of pricing and parity of treatment - if the cost of a specific item is to be drastically reduced in their US stores because it is being discontinued, the same should apply instantaneously to all of their other stores - regardless of geographic location. There is no excuse for any lag time in the internet age.
Rather than treating us simply as an afterthought, perhaps these companies should recognise that UK consumers are just as important as their US counterparts.

Amazon.co.uk now leads the way in the UK - latest price for the 16 GB HP TouchPad has now dropped to £275.
I wonder if they received permission from HP to reduce the price - on a Sunday, at 1 o'clock in the morning.
Only another £215 to go and then we can buy one in the UK for the equivalent price in the US of $99...0 -
Well I am in Florida at the moment and have been in a few shops today including bestbuy. I took a look at the pad computers but no mention of any price reductions anywhere - if anybody knows where they may be then please let me know so I can get one whilst i am out hereTo infinity and beyond!0

Interesting, perhaps, if the price does get really low, but the Which? comments aren't positive:
......the number of available apps is very small compared with the Apple App Store or Android Market, limiting the overall appeal of the TouchPad........
.......Apps are slow to load, poor selection of apps, battery life only average.......0 -
I'm sure someone at Xda or Modaco will come up with a way of cramming droid into these if the pricing goes nuts0

At the moment the best price in the UK for an HP TouchPad appears to be Staples: £291.65 for the 16 GB version. It's still a rip-off. By my calculations $99 = £60.
Like a lot of others I'm watching the situation closely on these, and waiting for some movement this side of the pond. I've reserved a couple at Argos just in case the price drops on Monday.0 -

I remember a while back that Amazon used to do a price promise, in that if you bought an item from them and the price went down within 30 days (I think it was 30 days) then they would refund the difference.
Does anyone know if that still applies .. and if so, would it be worth ordering and crossing our fingers or returning before the 30 days is up for a refund?

Scrap that, I don't think they offer it anymore0 -
I've reserved one of each at Argos just in case the price drops. Mine don't have to be collected until Friday so I have time for it to trickle through!0

Pre-Order Price Guarantee
Amazon.com's price for not-yet-released items sometimes changes between the time the item is listed for sale and the time it is released and shipped. Whenever you pre-order a book, CD, video, DVD, video game, or software item, the price we charge when we ship it to you will be the lowest price offered by Amazon.com between the time you place your order and the release date. The order summary in Your Account will reflect the lowest price within 24 hours of the price change.
Our Pre-Order Price Guarantee applies only to items sold by Amazon.com, and not to items (or prices) offered by other sellers on our site.
If your order enters the shipping process before the release date and the price is lowered on the release date, we will automatically refund your credit card for the difference between the price you were charged and the release-date price. If you didn't use a credit card to pay for your order, please contact customer service through the Contact Us button on the right side of any Help page.0
