    Would buy them if making a stew or soup but for a good roastie or great mash I tend to go for roosters or maris pipers. As i have found that the whites have tended to go a bit watery on a few occasions. ( not good when there are hungry mouths waiting on dinner :) )
    Well....... I thought it was good!!

    Well;

    (1) Lidl and Aldi are two quite different chains

    (2) The last time (I'm aware of ) that The Grocer ran a comparison that included stores outside the 'Big Five', Aldi came in at £30.76 compared to £20.85 for Tesco, which would make them about 50% more expensive, whilst Lidl came in with the slightly less frightening figure of £25.30. But given the complaints I've seen here on MSE regarding prices in Tesco, perhaps you're right, perhaps they are now "starting to offer similar prices".

    Not sure if I agree with that article, the prices don't seem to match up respectively speaking from what I've seen. Maybe trying to put the frighteners on the middle classes!

    Bottom line, I think we'll all agree about shopping smart and getting the best deals, as long as obtaining those deals doesn't outweigh the saving made.

    You can't beat Maris Piper when doing mash or a stew or stovies. Great spud. :)
