Not impressed with Lidl

Options
Nor impressed with Lidl at all today. Went to my local "cheap" Lidl and noticed that they increased the price of toilet paper Floralys. It went from £1.36 to £1.66 in just one week. People still think that Lidl is cheap!!!

Are you the only poster on MSE that doesn't buy in bulk when they see a good deal?? Paying over the odds for toilet roll is a pet hate of mine.

You do realise that for those who dont have a car or live within walking distance to a lidl they will shop there rather than go somewhere else. Does it matter where people shop as long as they are happy.

Thing is, every supermarket is probably getting expensive.

  • are you serious? Just this makes you unimpressed, well offset the 30p by buying the pork chops at £1,49 for 4!! I just pop in for the bargains and get the rest in morrisons. I'm saving a fortune.

The price of paper products elsewhere seems to have shot up as well so Lidl may well have maintained their relative position
  • I always buy the nicky ones from Home and Bargain. Think they work out about 22p each. Quite thick and a good size too.

Yes Lidl is a rip off on many things. Cheapest place I've found for loo and kitchen roll recently is Wilkinsons (Wilkos). If you have one near you go and check it out, their prices trump all the supermarkets.

    It's like 10p a tonne.

FWIW I noticed today that Asda Smartprice toilet rolls have jumped from £1.60 to £1.96. So I guess they'll all hike prices by about 22%.
