i queried the Thomson payments with my friend who works for them. (we work opposite each other)

They collect balances at 14 weeks. The brochure conditions state that the balance must be paid at least 10 weeks before travel. Internet booking collect at 12 weeks.
This allows the shop/internet a bit of leeway to collect balances should a customer need extra time.

Like I sais jhe, you have a very nice shop :)
now i am baffled why my invoice/confirmation says 8 weeks and your friend says different who works for thomson. i am off on holiday at the weekend but when i get back i will call in the thomson shop and ask them.i have used this shop for the last 5 year for between 2 and 4 hols a year, but even so i doubt very much they would give me any preferential treatment. i also always pay the balance on any booked hols long before the due date, will let u know what they say jilly.

  • I hate reading post to the end then never finding out the answer, lol. At least this one was only 2 pages long.

In my experience, we had a holiday booked for the Dominican Rep with First Choice for my sister-in-laws wedding. This was just over 2 years ago. There was a large party of us flying over and one of the people flying lost their job. At the time he called up to say he wouldn't be able to get all of the money together until 6 weeks before we were due to leave, but he would pay a bit off in the branch each week. They were happy with this....but i guess times have changed in the last couple of years!

I never made it to the Dominican Rep in the end. Hubby still went. My step-daughter took poorly so i had to stay home to care for her. Everyone who went ended up with some really bad stomach infection (not food poisoning) so i think i got off lightly. Hubby spent most of the time in bed. Lol.
