Thomson and first choice hols go in to canx fees at 10 weeks which is 50% of the hol cost, this was changed from 8 weeks to 10 weeks earlier in the year, its perhaps because your a good loyal customer you may get this perk or the manager doesnt know the terms and conditions have changed, and how do you know everyone else pays at 8 weeks, unless you work there of course (and before you jump down my throat, im only asking a civil question not being arsy).

the reason i know is because over the years friends and family have also booked to travel with us. this next holiday in march next year is a celebration, so friends and family have booked at various times, the latest couple to book a holiday to travel with us did so around 4 weeks ago. they also pay 8 weeks before departure this is their first holiday in years so they are not a loyal customer.
why would i want to jump down your throat? have i at anytime not answered in a civil way.or accused anyone of being arsy? i only replied earlier because firstly 14 weeks was mentioned which is wrong, then 10 weeks was mentioned quoting me as wrong was incorrect.obviously different companies have different times for payments due.

No you've never been uncivil but so many are and i didn't want you to think i was being funny with my comment, i seriously wondered how you knew. All companies do collect differently and shops do it different to the internet. Thomas cook shops collect all their balances on every operator 14 weeks before but there is some leeway depending on the shops individual manager. Thomsons holidays def go into canx charges at 10 weeks perhaps Thomson shops have more pulling power with Thomson the tour operator than Thomas cook shops have with thomas cook the tour operator.
Surely there must be a Thomson shop manager on here who can put us straight.

i queried the Thomson payments with my friend who works for them. (we work opposite each other)

They collect balances at 14 weeks. The brochure conditions state that the balance must be paid at least 10 weeks before travel. Internet booking collect at 12 weeks.
This allows the shop/internet a bit of leeway to collect balances should a customer need extra time.

Like I sais jhe, you have a very nice shop :)

Our ballance was due to be paid to Thompson on the 26th July to travel on the 19th September, I have it all in writing, that is 8 weeks (I think) before departure. 2 weeks prior to the 26th we got a rather confusing letter telling us our ballance was due on the 26th, not is due, it didn't really make any difference to us as I was already intending to pay the ballance well before the 26th, however I did query this with the Thompson shop and they didn't have an answer, allthough, they did say that technicaly the ballance is due 10 weeks before but they automaticaly put the extention date on the invoice, I know didn't make much sense to me either, if the ballance was due 10 weeks before, not 8 weeks before then why not put the date as 10 weeks before.
I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world
