Sat/Sun 20th/21st August 2011 What small DFW things will you do today????

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.
Morning campers & happy weekend! ooooo I'm like a bear with a sore head this morning, literally (well the sore head not the bear bit!) the students just woke me up by being noisy, was not impressed!
Bit who can be cross for long on the weekend???
Lots to do this weekend so not a bad thing I'm up and about already
This weekend:
I'm a little sad today as last night I was looking for the flights to Brazil and its not going to happen at Christmas
4 flights are £3000 so out of our price range. We need to rethink it and go later on in the year when the flights are cheaper. Disappointment! Oh ces la vie
Nothing will destroy my love of the weekend! x

Good morning all, and thanks to DNMS for starting the thread. Such a shame about the Brazil flights. I know you are so looking forward to going.
I'm just happy to be on here today. I felt a bit nauseous and giddy last night when I went to bed and fainted in the bedroom. About 20 minutes later I went down to talk to DH and he felt the same. We realise this morning it was carbon monoxide poisoning from the heater we had on. I'm still feeling sick and have a thumping headache, but at least we'll know better in future.
So far:- nothing!
- check banking
- check for surveys
- feed and water the chickens in exchange for some lovely fresh eggs
- collect DS2 from station and combine it with a short trip into town
- have a LSD - just buy breadcrumbs and a marrow
- bake a batch of Millie's cookies from stores
- finish off a corset
- smile lots, it freaks people out :rotfl:
Making magic with fabricLight travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.0 -
Stitchy that is so scary! Take care of yourself my dear. :grouphug:
Oh DNMS - boo on the flights to Brazil - you never know they might do some flash sales between now and the end of the year.
I'm off to work this morning - time and a half
Staying in tonight with OH and a movie :happyhear
Back to work tomorrow for more time and a half action :T0 -
Good morning, all!!! Making a rare appearance on the weekend thread.
Perni so sorry to hear about your news, poor bunny((hugs))
I hate that holiday delay feeling DNMS!!
My god, Stitchy, glad you made it to us this morning! How scary, I hope you have that heater the boot!!
Hope you enjoy your cuddly evening in La E!
had a very quiet evening in last night - helped boy with a document hes working on then went to sleep early. So much for recapturing that misspent youth :rotfl:
Anyway, today:- finishing presentation for work on Monday
- go into town and get passport photos taken so I can finally open a bank account - will try not to lose them this time
- pop into farmers market for some yummyness
- meet boy for coffee then go to a friends house for a BBQ - they are roasting an entire goat :eek::eek:
- maybe going to a 90s party tonight, not sure yet
Hope everyone has a lovely saturday!Mortgage free by 30:eek:: £28,000/£100,000Debt free as of 1 October, 2010

Morning all!
Thanks DNMS for starting us off.
Mum be careful!
Have fun at work La E!
Right, I have a load to do today and am really motivated to do it...!
This is me:-
- [STRIKE]Check banking[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Surveys[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Had breakfast from stores with DD[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Nip to Mr T's with small list[/STRIKE] also popped into Matalan to see if I could get some jeans for DD, walked out with nothing as there was nothing I really liked. Then found the last pair of aged 3-4 in Mr T's reduced from £10 to £3!
- [STRIKE]Hang HC out on line[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Do 2x more HC and hang them out[/STRIKE]
- Sort wood shed!!! Need to remove palletts and start chopping them up for kindling and store properly ready for winter
- Mow lawn (again!) if it stays dry. Reduce height of lawn mower
- [STRIKE]Put drying up away[/STRIKE] and clean kitchen
- Hoover WHOLE house
- Sort under my bed where the rabbit keeps hiding and chewing stuff, try to stop him getting under there
- As above with DD's bed
- Block up hole in front door...not done this yet :rotfl:
- Declutter kitchen and living room, easy how these things start to fill.
- Go through budget last time for this month
- See if mobile bill is in
- Wii Fit later MUST do this!
- All food and snacks from stores, must resist temptation to bake a cake. Can't get it gone quick enough on a w/e and I end up eating it all!
More of a to-do list than an MSE list but it's all about keeping me out of the shops (aside from Mr T's..!)
JxNothing to report as yet...give me a minute...!0 -

Morning all!
Hope you're feeling OK now Stitchy?
The visitors have gone:j - its lovely to see them but also nice to have my house back:o
So far this morning I have...- Taken the dogs to the park for a run around
- Packed off visitors with packed lunch for the car journey
- Hoovered and dusted whole house
- Put a load of washing on
- Tidied kitchen
- Spotted a few scuffs on the new paint:mad: that will need to be touched up - flipping visitors - only little but I want it to stay nice
- Go to Mr T armed with £8 worth of vouchers, trying to stick to spending just over £40 so the bill is around £32, more than usual but will stock up on a few things and next weeks shopping will be less (in theory!)
- Do a little bit of work
- Text friends
- Been invited to a BBQ later - not really my scene (veggie) but I'll probably pop round for a bit to show willing (need to keep in touch with friends)
- Watch Welsh rugby match later
- All food from stores
- Rethink budget as have given exOH some cash towards the half of things he paid for in the house (hoover, mower and fridge) to try to keep things amicable and not rock the boat
- Walk dog again
- Try on things I bought yesterday to make sure I still like them and not leave them in the wardrobe festering when I could take them back and get a refund instead;)
That means that the only money I owe anyone is the decorating costs that are on the CC which will be paid off in full when my golden handshake money arrives in early Sept.
Debt free - who'd have thought it!
I'm determined to keep it that way too so its budgeting and not going bonkers from now! I can't remember the last time I only had a mortgage and didn't owe anything anywhere else:)0 -
hi everyone:
this weekend i will:
check banking and update records
do budgets
use up freezer and cupboard foods - want to move so need to empty things
fill small holes in bathroom wall
slap some paint on outside door
HC - one load on cheap leccy, already outside, another load in
Dishwasher on cheap leccy
tidy garden
go out and use National Trust membership0 -
Morning all!
Thanks DNMS for starting the thread, and sorry about the flights - but keep your eye out for flash sales, TripAdvisor has a option where you can be alerted everytime the price changes on a particular route, might be worth a look?
Stitchy - how terrifying for you, I hope you feel better soon x
La Escocesa - have a good day at work!
NTBY - a whole goat? Eek!
Josie - wow, what a list! That'll definitely keep you out of the shops!
Wannabe01 - ooh, thanks for letting me know about free listing weekend!
Ixia - good luck with the stopping smoking - you can do it!
WelshWoofer - that's my downfall too, I keep clothes for far too long with tags on which I either don't like or don't fit properly!
Lemon Tree - enjoy your day!
Today I will:- Check banking
- Check credit card
- Check Paypal
- Check TCB
- Try Next stuff on and arrange return if necessary
- Take boy's family to the airport - will drive economically, and try really hard not to cry, eek!
- Give myself a manicure to cheer myself up after the above
- Stop by Boots to buy base coat for my manicure using voucher/points if I have enough - and NOTHING else!
- Rework budget after loaning my mother some of my savings for the next few months
- Clean out the car if weather brightens up?
- OU
- Finish my friend's leaving present
Have a great day everyone, whatever you're up to!

Morning all - I'm back:D (Maybe you didn't noticed I'd sneaked off??!)
We have just got back from our holiday - a week in majorca which was fab...but not long enough;) Missing the glorious weather and warm evenings...back to reality comes too quickly.
DNMS - sorry to hear about the flights...that is such a lot of money, hopefully there'll be an offer before then:o
Stitchy - scary about the heater, what a relief you worked out what it was.
ixia - how old is your dd? I have 2, 14 and 12...and they just want to go out with friends, not me really:(
WW - woop woop to you being debt free...brilliant:beer:
Ok, must get a little list done. I must get back on the DFW wagon...before holiday I definitely let it slide a bit.
Today:- check banking
- take dd1 and friend to cinema - they wanted to waste £4-odd each on buses
- check what food is in cupboards and freezer
- meal plan for next week
- HC more - did 2 loads yesterday

- water heating off
- start ebaying - i have bags of stuff to get on there
- relaxing evening with the girlies watching X Factor, eating pizza and maybe watch our Lovefilm dvd (Bradley Cooper....swoooon:p)
I really need to sort out a new signature!0
