  • Sorry for being stupid but I can't figure out this 10% off thing... The only thing I can find is the 10% off if you go through quidco and that doesn't seem to be working!! If anyone could help me it would be great cos my TV's started making well weird noises and I think it might blow anytime soon!!

*shudders* have you had a close look at the tesco one? I was considering it but then I thought I'd see what the picture was like on the other channels....except I could only go one way because the "channel +" button was broken. Hardly a surprise because I've seen better buttons on £4.99 mp3 players.

Basically my impression was that the picture was bad, the build quality was awful and the design was Ugly (with a capital U).

Might be worth doing a google on it too as the first thing I read about it was a number of people sending it back because it died after a few days.

*If* you can afford it, spend a £100 more and get the Toshiba.

    Review of the Toshiba:

The picture up close isn't exactly great on the tosh. Quite blocky in some cases. My dad got one free through work, we set it up next to my samsung and the samsung piddles on it from a whopping height. Its also cheaper.

In fact, its the same samsung thats in that review. And they're right - the sound isn't excellent but its good enough. I've got a nice surround sound setup that solves that problem anyway :)

I heartily reccomend the Samsung R74 series to anybody who is in the market for a LCD. Its also one of the best priced models around. And if you have a XBOX 360 its usually top of the awards lists for gamer tvs too.

    PS: I don't work for samsung ;)

Talk about gratuitous use of semi-naked female in that review. Just going back there to have a read of some other reviews. :rotfl:

Well, i wasn't going to read the reviews, but if you insist ;)

Anyways, seriously, does anyone have experience of how the picture on the tosh compares to the sony s series?

Hmm, it's funny how subjective reviews can be. If you read the review from "Home Cinema Choice" it concludes:

    Samsung -
    The 32R74’s contemporary design and
    affordability will probably be enough
to see this TV soaring up the sales chart.
The good news is that it's an above
    average screen

    Toshiba -
    As an eye-popping monitor, Toshiba’s
32WL66 can be considered a resounding
success, and I appreciated its twin
HDMI provision. It’s a real shame,
then, that I simply can’t bring myself
    to wholeheartedly recommend
    a TV that doesn’t have a digital
    Freeview tuner

The toshiba scores higher on the visial scoreboard too. *shrugs* I suppose it's all down to personal taste.

I would also be concerned (from my point of view) at the lack of component input (I would need the D-Sub as well in the future).

Having said that, if it is cheaper I'd be interested to know where...it's not too late for me to pop down to currys and look at them both then change my mind!

Actually, seems it is too late....my Tosh just arrived. :)

Don't have time to set it up right now but I'll report back when I do.

just to add with the32wlt66 you should be able to get a price match from john lewis and get the 5 year warranty they dont have any in stock at the moment so you would have a longer wait but i believe the still do a price match as long as the other store has stock
