Hi
I am really sad! I keep a typed up list of my freezer contents and update it every time I add anything or use it.
I have done this for years and it means when I plan meals I know what has been there for a while and what needs using.
My whole family think I'm really sad, but I don't throw old food away because it has been there for years!!! Now whose sad???!!

ive got an upright fridge freezer the freezer has 4 drawers the top one is suppose to be for pizza but its useless as it holds one med [pizza and as a family of 5 one pizza doesnt go far so i tend to keep all the ice cubes and bags of reusable frozen peas for and sprains etc hence the reusable bit.the next drawer down is for me and my hubby as we on diets so the kids know anything in there is for us the next drawer is the kids drawer ie the ubhealthy drawer but on return from our hols at end of month gonna start doing meal planners and all eat more healthy the bottom drawer is for veggies and anything else as its a weird shape
i have rectangular plastic tubs to keep anything frozen in-ive a passion for plastic tubs lol
listing things on front of freezer sounds a good idea as we all keep the freezer open for ages searching for whats in it-cant be money saving
now can it

I have done this and then found them in the bottom of the freezer at defrosting time along with the loose frozen peas that someone mentioned earlier0 -
Yup, my mum regulary asks 'now is this stock or soup? Meat pie or apple pie?' She has been better at making notes on the tubs/bags since a disaster involving similar-looking shepherd's pie and tiramisu ...!
I share a flat with a big chest freezer. I don't freeze huge amounts, and I can usually remember what's mine and what's what. God bless that freezer though, I have at least 5 meals in there right now plus 2 loaves of home-made bread and sausages that were on the cheap.Old-styler, crafter and freebie junkie!Frogga's Amazing Weight Loss Campaign: Member no.20 since 2/9/07 -- lost 10lbWedding bells 04/10/08

I have quite a large F/F in the kitchen and a large chest freezer in the workshop , like Sarahsaver I bought mine when I had my first baby to store HM baby food (7 years ago:eek: .....where does the time go )...I do regular inventories , I use a site called organizedhome ( fantastic site , I think there's an OS'er who moderates on their boards)
This is the list I use...with thanks to organisedHome.com

lil_me wrote:Honestly try the masking tape, loads cheaper than labels and washes off easier too! Sticky labels these days are way too sticky and take some getting off!

I'm going to suggest this to my daughter - she is stickerphobic - i'm not kidding! if she sees a sticker with an edge peeling off or the mark left behind from an old sticker or plaster she is physically sick. I've even had to go to her house to take a plaster off her son because she couldn't. we don't know how this startedI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080
