When I first bought my chest freezer it had no baskets and I couldn't find anything. Then I found www.hamsterbaskets.co.uk Brilliant and tailored to your freezer. Now I can see things easily and get things out. I keep a spreadsheet on the computer of the contents, but as with everyone, if DH goes hunting, all bets are off.

These look interesting! It's been a long day and I think my brain is mushy so I'm not reading the site very well, but the principle looks simple but good. Thanks for posting the link :)

My friends marvel at my organising skills when they see the beautifully laminated sheets on the upright freezer's door denoting what belongs in each of the drawers.
I just pray that they never open the door to check the contents and find that the drawer labelled 'Fruit' actually contains frozen peas, sausages, homemade soup, a spare loaf, two lots of cheese, some pastry dough and EUREEKA! a small bag of last year's gooseberries. There is a similar selection in the drawer marked 'Cooked meat' and again in the drawer marked 'Fish'....................

One day I will sort it all out - honestly!

My friends make fun of my freezer list which I have typed up on my pinboard. Its a large upright freezer, each section is for different items : bread/cake items, uncooked meat, fish, vegetables, cooked meals, and fruit/puddings. The list is typed up by drawer and dated as to when I put it in there, I add the newest items on in pen and then once a week update the inventory on the computer and reprint it, the latest items go on the bottom of each section and each month has a different colour so that I can see at a glance which is the oldest and which needs using up. At the same time as updating this I plan my next weeks meals and my shopping list. It works for me!!
    I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!
