  • I'm glad other people have a freezer log too! :)

We also plan our meals a week in advance just before we go shopping. Mind that sometimes changes the meal plans depending on how many whoops! we get that won't fit in the freezer...

    Thanks for posting this.

I do every so often make a list of what's in each drawer of my freezer, but I never update it, so have to do it all over again at a later date!

I've copied the lists I made yesterday morning on to these sheets (yes, there is more than one :p) and will try my hardest to keep it up to date. I find it harder remembering to add to it when I put stuff in there rather than taking things out.

i don't keep an inventory of whats in the freezer but i have set drawers per item group. ie , home made soups, chilli's etc. another will be frozen veg, another meat products like sausages, dippers etc, another is meat joints say whole chicken, mince beef etc. i am lucky to have a tall 6 drawer freezer and a 3 drawer freezer as part of fridge freezer.
i do miss my chest freezer but have no where for it now. i am hoping tho when we find a new house it will have a space for a chest freezer.ie a garage or something.

After a long-overdue sort through my (garage) chest freezer it occurred to me that many Old Stylers have probably developed storage systems to make sure they can find the right stuff without having to empty theirs each time. (And without plums, runner beans and bagged breadcrumbs always getting lost at the bottom for five years!)

We have one small basket which fits into the freezer and it has a ledge at the back, where I could start to stack things if I use the same containers.

So how do you do it? Any ideas or tried and tested tips would be appreciated!

    Thanks!

    Hi Scotrae

I remember a recent discussion on this - how to organise a chest freezer. From memory people use boxes within the freezer - have a read and I will merge your thread later on

    thanks

Thanks for that - I did try to search but wasn't clever enough to find that thread.
Sounds just what I was looking for!

So glad to find this thread and such brilliant advice. I too had thought of plastic crates but wonderede if they'd get brittle and make the freezer less efficient, so the wasted space is an important point too.

I used big carrier bags earlier when sorting through my freezer but will head straight out there to replace it with a bag for life, and invest in a few different ones this weekend for other 'themes'!

I'm glad that none of you suggested an inventory either - I could never be that organised!
