i dont know why people get sniffy about oven chips, i love them and better than chip shop chips too, they're too greasy

I agree. Chippy chips make me feel nauseous.

Aldi's steak cut oven chips are good I buy them for DS who puts curry sauce on them and its a big bag for 99p but mcains homefries are the best - I only get them when they're on offer as I find the bag gets demolished as soon as they're in the freezer! :rotfl:

Another vote for McCains Homefries (or Homechips as they're now called). I've tried making my own HM oven chips and quite frankly they don't cut the mustard. My mums HM chips were fantastic when I was a kid but they were cooked in a deep fat fryer. Since I don't want yet another piece of kit to clutter up the kitchen it's oven chips for me :) Plus with the Homefries they are really filling so I don't eat as many of them :)

Just an update for anyone that's interested-the Aldi wedges were very nice-cooked well and had a nice flavour, -good value for 69p--but I will probably try McCains next time!

Can I put in a vote for Iceland American style skinny fries.

My children love them and they are £1 for a l.5 kg bag.
  • For all the McCains lovers - if you wander over to the coupon thread there's a coupon for 50p off oven chips and another for 50p of rustic chipc. Makes them a decent buy.:D
I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly :D

  • I like Tesco Finest,Aunt Bessies and McCains Homefries any of those and I'd be happy.

Another vote for McCain. I like the crinkle cut ones best. If I'm in the mood for french fries though, Lidl's oven fries are great value and tasty :)
  • What are Home fries? I can only find "home chips" are they the same thing?
