Things I do not need

• I do not need a pretty wooden doghouse for a dog who lives indoors
• I do not need a satnav when I always drive to the same places
• I do not need a pair of red patent leather platform heels
• I do not need a mobile phone with a fancy reminder system. I can use a low-tech pocket calendar.
• I do not need a mobile phone that plays games. I can get a book of sudoku puzzles from the market for £1
• I do not need a mobile phone that plays music. The little 256MB mp3 player I got for Christmas a year ago still works fine.
• I do not need a mobile phone with a camera. I have a camera that I almost never use.
• I do not need a mobile phone contract no matter how pretty and shiny the free phones are when I spend less than £10 a month on payg
• I do not need a new vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter when I am embarrassed to say how rarely I use my old one
• I do not need a machine that blows bacon flavored bubbles for my dog.

Good thread I was thinking of doing a similar one "post before you buy" post saying what you want and why, and then let all the dfw's could give you good reasons why you should'nt.

1. I do not need a cycling machine that will end up never being used.
2. I do not need a gym membership!!
3. I do not need a new pushchair for the little one.


Well thats me for now but my needs do change daily.

I do not need another pair of black trousers, the two pairs I have are fine
I do not need a pair of lovely black M&S shoes for £50 when I can't chase the kids in them, and I am looking for boots!
I do not need to buy my ds1 any clothes in the sale, he has enough for this year already
I do not need to buy t shirts, tops etc when I only need underwear:D

i do not need any new handbags- they do not have 2 match with every outfit or shoe that i have.
i do not need to spend money in boots on toiletries or perfume sets because the packaging is nice.
i do not need a bath bomb set from lush i can use whatever is on the bathroom shelf.
I do not need to stop at millies cookies everyday i can survive without.

Not even going to ask about that one!

As for me?

I do not need Sky + at £34 a month when all our toddler lets us watch is cbeebies all day which is free anyway, and when she's gone to bed the only programs we regularly watch are eastenders, holby etc which are all free... so why pay £34 a month for a posh box and the same crap programming and repeats??
I do not need to spend nearly £40 on a hair cut/dye when a self dye kit is £5 and all my hair really needs doing is a trim and tidy.

• I do not need a HD plasma/LCD widescreen television when my old TV is still going strong

I WANT a HD plasma/LCD widescreen television, you understand, I just don't actually need it...

Not so much what I don't need...... But from the 1st 20 pages or so of this month's Easy Living

NO-ONE needs a pot cleaning brush that costs £19.99!!!!!!
NO-ONE needs an angora jumper for their toddler that costs over £300 :eek: even if it is made from baby angoras!!!!!!

- I too do not need a new pushchair for the new baby. The old double needs a good clean and a new raincover. Even though I do get the Sure Start Grant soon and I have totally fallen in love with the new Hauck Infinity in Red so I have the money to pay for it. The old double for new babe and toddler will be fine until baby is 6 months and I can buy a single buggy cheaply then.

- I do not need a subscription to a parenting magazine. I have 4 kids at home (3 are mine) and I really do know what I am doing (honest!) I get enough reminder info from Tesco Baby club every few weeks!

- I do not need another pair of maternity trousers. I have 7-8 weeks to go. Just because my comfy ones have a hole in, I do own needle and thread.

- I do not need to join weightwatchers to lose the baby flab (and the rest!). Old style board and Real Meals are already here for free!

2. Expensive shaving foam when shaving oil is much better.
