How do you rescue a cat from Cyprus?

I'm on holiday at the moment and there is a lovely cat here who is very skinny and spends all his time with us at the villa. Id love to take him home to england with me but how do you even go about this and how much is it likely to cost? I can't bear the thought of leaving him here starving!

    It will cost a lot......
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Well for a start you'll need to get kitty microchipped, routine vaccs and rabies vaccinated. For the rabies you need to have the first vaccine (v.expensive) then wait 6 months, then take the cat for a blood test to see if it's successful, after that you can get a pet passport.

As this is a feral cat there's every likelyhood it is already diseased, so you may have to add the cost of treatment for that too.

I think you're probably looking at least £1k not to mention the flights backwards and forwards while you're waiting for the rabies vaccine and somewhere that will board a feral cat for 6 months.

Try the above also. Good luck, but just to let you know that my friend looked into this - and, with flights, vet fees and quarantine, could cost about £800.00

you can quadruple that. we bought a dog home from the canaries about 5 years ago. needed the visa thing with the quarentine home, flights, boarding at a vets before theflight as our flight left before the dogs did, the special carrier, all the rabies stuff, blood tests, pet passport. the quarentine for 6 months. i visited 2 times a week which involved a torturous bus route as at the time i didnt drive and the home was in the middle of nowhere (ie the countryside), i also took time off work to do this as their visiting times were only during work hours. then theres fees whilst the animal is there because of regular vet check ups etc etc

it was me and my friend who did this, she kept the dog, i paid half, we paid about 2k each.

You haven't said, and everyone has presumed you are in the south, there are different rules for both sides.

I think it's probably a really stupid decision financially, to want to do this, but I applaud your big hearts. :T Karma will hopefully ensue. :)
