How do you rescue a cat from Cyprus?

  • Slightly terrified is all ;) The most recent experience was less than a year ago (the pup from Wales) but I've no idea what airline that would have been or how they'd go about getting it done etc. I'll edit the first post (if it lets me, not edited on here before).

Strangely, I've "grown up" on the net, and am a moderator of one of the biggest (and possibly controversial) canine SIMs, so used to dealing with questioning, just they're G-rated so am not usually given out to. Confrontation IRL terrifies me (shaking usually is how I end up) so as I said, I tend to stay neutral and away from agression online. Thanks for the heads up about those places - I most likely won't venture near ;)

Actually, it might give you a laugh to read some of the bizarre subjects being discussed on there and some of the crazy opinions.

You will be able to edit your post or even delete the text completely if you want to.

I hope you get lots out of MSE, the OldStyle board is great for tips on recipes etc.

This thread seems to have been hijacked into a discussion about what happens when animals are transported!

Wonder what has happened to the cat in Cyprus?

That's what the question was... how do you rescue a cat from Cyprus - as in taking to another country! Good to know we've spread the word a bit more about how to care for animals when using an airline.

Yah, this site is no different. You have to choose your words carefully and be careful not to give out misleading advice, especially when it comes to medical (or veterinary as mentioned above) advice - the site is not for that, it's listed in a sticky above. I usually read my post three or so times before posting to make sure i'ts factual and not misleading. sometimes you can't help it as the information you're giving you think is correct and of course you can have an opinion! If you're a mod somewhere I'm sure you know this, sorry not teaching granny to suck eggs!

I think it's been a pretty interesting and illuminating discussion about transporting animals and not really so far off topic as some threads go.

Earlier posts have provided the OP with possible costs and the fact that she's looking at having the cat in quarantine for 6 months.

I hope the OP will update us when she gets back from Cyprus.

Some friends of mine have a dog from Spain.

The difference is, he had a good home in Spain (his owner needed to re-home him) where he could live for the six months while he was getting his pet passpoort.

They brought him back on the Santander-Portsmouth ferry, I don't know how much it cost - a lot I think.
