My husband loves to wear his, but because we live in England he mostly wears pants because dumb tarts usually tend to try to take a peek at his junk. Always. Sigh.

Dumb tarts may try to take a peek, scots lassies do not do the dumb tart take a peek at junk...they determine if junk or not!

Re wearing kilts - there must be that same chilly killer updraft? One of the reasons I don't get on well with skirts!

The other reason being trousers are just so much more practical, and comfy...

I do love a man in a kilt though *swoon*

You're forgiven, quine is the local Doric term for a girl while loon is a boy.

I do agree about men in kilts though. :rotfl:

  • You can tell the clan of a Scotsman by his kilt. If you lift it up and he has a quarter-pounder, then he's definitely a McDonald.

Always commando under the kilt. Yes, drunk women will always try to take a peek.

Cold! Wearing a kilt I've never been anything but boiling, no matter the weather. Don't worry about dancing, wore one at a few energetic ceilidh's and if it fits right you'll be fine.

Thank you for all your views! Strange question to be asking on such a forum.

I inherited by kilt and sporran. The kilt is hand woven and yes, it is snug. The sporran is about 130 years old but I suspect I need a new dress one. And yes, I wore my own tartan!

TBH I think it was more anxiety when sitting down and yes, the sporran weighted the kilt down. I imagine it's an insecurity that goes in time. Mind you, I did go commando, as such, about seven years ago at a Burns' Supper in the House of Lords. But then all the other Scots guests would have done the same.

Thankfully at the wedding nobody tried to peek.

Mr Luxor (Scottish and proud of it) refuses to wear a kilt at any time or any place, even for his daughter's wedding, as he says it is a recent trend and wasn't done when he was young - he's 55.
He claims he wore a kilt just once, taking part in Highland style games so it was compulsory but wore his rugby shorts underneath.
    BORING!

my hubby wears nothing under if he's wearing his own but if he fancies a different tartan will hire and wear underwear.

Mr Luxor just doesn't want to wear one ;) - my Dad, uncles, brother, BILs, nephew etc, all Scottish and all ranging in age from 21 to 71, wear the kilt for family weddings, big anniversary parties etc. My Dad and uncles probably started wearing the kilt for such occasions around about 25 years ago.
