Problems with New Orange Contract!

i took out a friends and family contract 2 weeks ago and i still havent been able to use my phone! this all originally started with calling to activate my phone... only to be told the DOB i gave them doesnt match what they have on the system. I was asked to pop into my local orange shop and show them my ID (driving license).
I did this the next day and the assistant in the shop called up whilst i was in the store and confirmed my DOB. i was then told, give it 20 mins. if it still doesnt work, pop back and we will hpone them again. Sure enough, still wasnt activated so the store called Customer Services again, was put through to registration and a few other departments. give it 24 hours i was told.
The next day im still without a phone so i called orange and explained the situation. only then to be told. they couldnt accept the store assistants word and to go back so they can fax it to them. so i did this and was told to wait again. ill get a call back i was told!
no callback so called the next day, told they hadnt received the fax and gave me another fax number to send this to and they will call back. resent the fax to the number requested. no call back again! so called up to ask what was going on, then told, the couldnt read the fax so referrals have declined it. Sooooo....
went back and resent the fax blown up to both fax numbers i was given. Still not activated by the next day so call again. Each time i call im promised a callback but it fails to happen. by this time, i had a persons name, managers name, team number, pod number and extension.
Still no callbacks. this time i called but it hadnt been looked at yet. i also scanned my DL and sent this to them as requested too, just in case!
now im getting angry because of the poor customer service i have received and still no phone that actually works.
Yesterday i called to chase this again only to be told referrals now want me to send in a covering letter to say what my DL was sent in for! ridiculous! they have asked for it! last night after over and hour on the phone, was told they would get someone to call me but nothing as of yet!
its becoming a joke now! after several visits to the store, at least 45 mins on the phone every day and wasted time, i still have a phone that doesnt work and orange apparently do know what to do!
Has anyone else had a similar problem? this is all over a DOB that was typed in wrong. but still managed to send me the phone and a sim card.

Cancel contract and let them take you to county court. I doubt there is a judge in the land who wouldn't find in your favour.
I have 1 month left of a 24 month Orange contract and cannot wait to leave this bunch of moronic halfwits.0 -

the relation is step sister but she has tried even from the store but they are still no help. apparently the friends and family number wouldnt help anyway as its referrals that need to do the work!

Is it cancelling if Orange are unprepared to start the service?
A contract depends upon both parties doing their bit and Orange have not commenced the service.
Obviously all handsets and sims would have to be sent back.0 -

When I upgraded the 'offshore' idiot at orange was so unhelpful I told him what he could do and where to stick orange :mad:
Once I calmed down, I called back and got a decent English chap in geordieland. Told him that I was just calling to get my PAC number and he asked why as per usual.
Told him the story and got exactly the tariff I wanted, with the F & F added on.
Then he said he would refund me a months line rental, £27 I think after discount, but that he would round it up to £40 as a gesture of goodwill.
All was sorted and I was happy. Told my son, who said, yeah that's about right for the offshore call centre's, we call them all day and just keep hanging up and redialling until we get an English customer service person, who then sorts the problem. :T0 -

Today I phoned up and got my PAC code - I just asked for it. They asked why I was leaving and I said abysmal customer service and I've been paying for 3G broadband on my phone contract for 2 years I cannot use. They didn't even bother to try to talk me out of it. That tells me that they have a lot of unhappy customers jumping ship at the moment.0 -

F&F users have been calling 150 for about 2 years now. Internal Customer Services don't deal with them now.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -
Update: called them back yesterday as no one contacted me as usual! Finally spoke to someone in the plymouth call centre who was more than happy to help me out! my phone was saying orange now instead of no service, called to ask as i suspected they activate the sim but not the phone! i was right.... they had blacklisted the phone, apparently they do this with all the Iphones. he un-blacklisted this for me and it started to work whilst i was on the phone!
then it came down to the credit i was promised.... £27 in fact for the 1st month of F&F tariff.
my man on the phone has said he will chase the original guy who promised this and also gave me his email address. the 1st guy said he couldnt give me his as it was internal only!
so i will await a response from him and see what happens.0
