you don't need one, it just makes the transfer seamless. why won't they give you one?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

they hav en't signed up to the agreement so they won't give us one they state that they don't use them, which they won't if they aren't part of ther agreement.

Have a look here http://www.thinkbroadband.com/news/2918-ofcom-waves-big-stick-on-migration-problems.htmlfrom 14th feb every isp has got to issue a mac key.0 -
Best option just end the contact and wait the week to get reconnected to another ISP.0

The best option? Im not sure what you suggest is.
If the OP cancels the broadband from the isp, they will then have to wait for a cease order to go through to BT, and then when they go to another isp they will have to pay a re-activation fee of about £45 plus put up with a downtime, so no broadband for about 10 days at least.
If they wait until the 14th Feb, when the isp will have to release a mac key, they can then just migrate for free and have a downtime of an hour or so.
I know which route I would take0 -
There own code of practise says they will provide one where possible
Section 8!

BTW - the MAC code has nothing to do with the hardware you are using, it's about the new provider being able to take over the broadband service on your phone line without it having to be cancelled and reinstated0 -
Hi,
I am absolutely sick of supanet, they are now saying that they will not give us a MAC code without us paying a £50 administration fee. We have told them that we are going to report this to OFCOM but they say that they don't care. We can't cancel without loosing the internet connection for about 14 days or so. Can anyone suggest what to do.
Thanks Shelagh0 -
I can't think of anything to suggest but just to add my own disgust at that. The fact they don't care they are breaking the law, does put you in an awkward position. Get in contact with OFCOM now, maybe it will persuade them if they know they're already under scrutiny."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
