Congratulations lisa - have a happy and healthy pregnancy.

Thank you to emsbet for sharing her news with us!

Weren't there another couple of ladies who were meant to be testing and posting at around 10am? *goes back to look at previous pages*

Fingers crossed if you are testing today.

2b keep trying - my friend has PCOS and had been trying for 3 years as was refused IVF. She did conceive naturally, and then conceived her second daughter accidentally only 2 months after her first daughter was born.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.
I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/2017

Wow... Congrats Lisa, another lovely bfp!

Well, all done at scan .. and as I have suspected all along... Pcos. It's funny, even though I don't display the usual symtoms I just knew! I burst into tears though.

So now what?! Do I keep trying? Is there medication?

Hi 2b, I know exactly what you're feeling, I was diagnosed with mild pcos about 6 weeks ago. The treatment really depends on your symptoms and size (BMI) as well as whether you're oving or not. If you're a larger lady then they might put you on Metformin, and if you're not oving they might give you some cycles of Clomid to help, but if you're not overweight, and you're still oving (even on an irregular basis) then all they'll be able to recommend is diet changes and exercise, which is what I'm doing. PCOS is really quite common but unfortunately many docs don't seem to understand it or sympathise with women who have it. I'd recommend buying a book or two on it (I have PCOS for Dummies, which I've found really helps) and try eating a low-GI or low carb diet to manage the symptoms. I'm also on agnus castus to try to regulate my hormones and it seems to be helping. Hope that's helpful :o

You you ladies, there's a whole minefield of info I need to read on the internet, but it's always good to hear others stories first/second hand.

I think I need to go back to my GP and say 'Now what' - I am overweight, so I suspect she will try to get me to lose weight, maybe this is the kick I need! *sigh*

Feel really blue now. AND I'm off to a baby shower. :(

PCOS is only a problem with oving. Is your cycles regular?
Sometimes egg quality can suffer due to it taking so long to ov, but otherwise you have the same chances of conceiving as normal people/ov:)

Remember, Victoria Beckham has it, as does Mrs.Jamie Oliver:cool:

If you are oving fine, then there's nothing they would do. They may give you metformin if you have glucose intolerence. As for my PCOS, I get nothing:o Clomid can induce ov, but it can only be used 6 times, and I've already used it 7 times:o

Otherwise there's Soy Isoflavones. I have to say, I may have taken some...:shhh:

QQ - not regular, they've been from 28 - 45 in the last 8 ish months, although 'evening' out in the last 4-5 around 33- 35 days.
Do you mean you can only use Chlomid 6 times EVER, or in a year?!
I dont know what Soy Isoflavones is???

This is prob why the CBFM didn't pick up a peak month. Althoguh - can you still have the LH surge, but not ovulate?

Oh yes I remember you saying that, sorry:o
It's not bad. Slightly less ov/year than regular 28 day cyclers.
The doctor may not do anything in that case, I don't know.

    Ever I think.

It's a natural alternative to Clomid, but no limit to how many times you can use, or causes cancer or something like that.

I assume you know what Clomid does? It tricks the brain into thinking there's not enough estrogen, and the brain orders to up the FSH (follicle stimulating hormones). It will stimulate the eggs, and will produce estrogen. When estrogen gets high enough, LH is produced and ov occurs.
Same thing with Soy Isoflavones, but half the strength of Clomid.

With PCOS, one can have LH surge but not ov, then will gear up again and another LH surge occurs, and ov's OK (or not, then the cycle continues).

I didn't realise you could onlytake 6 cycles or clomid and that was it. I knew about the6 cycles but presumed you could try it again at a later date.

QQ - I'm confused about the cancer comment. I might be misreading but are you saying there's a link between clomid and cancer?
