Trying for a Baby Part 7

Just a quick question to ask some advice about my above post? ~
Does anyone who has taken norethisterone have much knowledge about it? The doctor said to take the pills about 3 or 4 days before I'm due on which is anybody's guess (or basically before I go away and then take it thoughout the holiday and stop taking it when I get back) - then about 3 or 4 days later I should get my period.
But if my body decides that my next cycle was actually going to be 50 days rather than 35 days would I still get a period - and would it be a real one? And what would happen if I conceived between now and the wedding? It would be too early to test but would taking this drug affect abything if I was pg?0 -
*delurks*
Squirrel, I've just been prescribed noriwotsit (for another reason) and she was keen to stress that you mustn't be pregnant when you start it (she did a pg test there and then to make sure, even though I had AF) and that you can't try for conception while on it as it would affect the pregnancy. (My instructions were to take it from cd5 for 3 weeks then stop for the withdrawal bleed)
HTH
P.s. I don't understand why you're waiting to start the metformin...?"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0 -
No idea what is going on with me?! After the pos opk 2 days ago I thought this must be it but have had no temperature rise?! Guess it didnt happen again!
If I am getting my period like I have for past few months does that mean I am ovulating? Or can you have period and not ovulate?0 -
Must have been so hot in my room last night, my temp went right up this morning.
I found all those BBC Olympic channels now and theyre normal as well as HD so will be watching them next week!
Elsie, was it definitely a positive? Also, sometimes I find my temp gradually goes up after ov, rather than shoots up, it doesnt do that for a couple of days.0 -
Elsie - Am I remembering right that you came off the pill? If so, there is a possibility that you are having periods but not ovulating still - as it takes a while to come out of your system. By temping and opk's and checking cervical mucus tho - you will get a very good indicater as to whether you are ovulating or not.
Is this your first month temping? I remember getting sooooo frustrated waiting for my temp rise for ov, and thinking it would never happen. If I got a low temperature it would put me in a bad mood for most of the morning, and if I got a high temperature - I would be really happy (even tho I really didn't understand what I was looking for)
None of the methods are foolproof for checking ovulation - they only give you an indicator.
Your temp will rise for 3 consecutive days after ov, and continue to stay at an elevated level until a day before AF turns up usually. But once you have your temp rise on FF, its too late to catch the eggy - its just shows you when it did happen. FF will put in red crosshairs when it thinks you have ovulated (I nearly peed with excitement the first time it did it for me)
OPKs measure LH levels, as these surge just before ov. When you have a positive opk I think you have another day or 2 to catch the eggy? Is that right ladies? (I don't like opks - I found temping worked much better for me)
As its still not clear that ov has taken place yet, I would keep BDing every 2 days if possible to hope to catch the eggy.
The temping is meant to be done over a few months so you can spot your own patterns in your charts. And yes I know - I was shocked at that too - who wants to wait months for this?! But sometimes we have to wait a little while, and just think of it as learning to understand your body a little better in the meantime.
During the times where I wasn't overly frustrated with how long making a baby takes - I did actually find it quite fascinating what goes on in our bodies, and I would have probably never learnt all this had I caught on more quickly.
Have a little patience - it will all work out ok in the endMarried my lobster in July 2011
TTC # 2 since Oct 2011 - good things come to those who wait

Am so glad it wasn't just me! I was stupidly excited when I first got crosshairs. Am disappointed this month as only have dotted lines.... feel like I've failed this month lol.0 -
I'm really not sure if I've OV'd yet or not but that one +ve OPK on Tuesday has made me think that maybe I have? Can I be put down as a tentative 2DPO, timing seems about right anyway?
Glad you had a good time camping Tink, looks lovely!
Hope your cramps have eased up today RazWaz, I found that with my first couple of AFs after coming off the pill the cramps were horrendous but things have settled down now and it's not as bad.Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Thanks for the advice girls. I'm just getting very frustrated as its been 7 months since coming off the pill now - I wish someone had told me how hard it was coming off! I swear I am never going back on them!
What is everyone upto today? Thinking I may mow the lawns and sort the garden - need to take my mind off this whole ovulating thing!!
Hugs to all xx0 -
What is everyone upto today?
Today will mainly be spent feeling suicidal at my desk. Am soooo bored, it's like a whole new level of boredom I didn't know existed. They could torture people with this.
Ok, rant (nearly!) over. Feeling v sorry for myself today as my parents have gone on holiday with my sister and niece and I'm stuck at home working. Doesn't help that my sister's a teacher so has 6 weeks of hols now.
Been looking at our finances all morning but there's just no way I can afford to leave. The only way out of here for me is maternity leave - which would be fine if I could just sodding well get pg.
Off for a cry in the toilets.
Sorry to be on such a massive downer, have got a right grump on today as you cal tell!0
