Hopefully you wont need the clomid fannyanna. I have PCOS too, but losing weight has always helped me ovulate naturally. I've never been massively overweight, but BMI has gone up to around 29 at times which is enough to put the kibosh on things for me. I think different people have different tolerances though.

Have you considered a low carb diet? Losing weight with PCOS is hard, but this always works for me. I think scientifically it's supposed to be better as it takes into account all the insulin abnormalities which come with PCOS and cause the weight gain in the first place, and stabilizes them all out. I thought I wouldn't be able to manage without bread and pasta when I first tried it, but it's surprising how quickly you do get used to it, and the weight falls off incredibly quickly. I once lost 10lbs in 2 weeks and kept it all off!

    Thanks Nicki

I am indeed hoping that I can naturally kick start everything with weight loss but it’s nice to know that clomid will be available to me if that doesn’t happen. I really do believe that weight is my main problem although know that I’m not going to get to a healthy BMI any time soon as I've got a lot to lose. But whilst I might not get to my ultimate goal anytime soon it doesn’t mean I can’t lose a few stone in the short term. They say just losing 10% of your body weight can have a really positive impact so I’ve got nothing to lose but pounds and stones :D

I definitely intend to follow a low GI diet eventually as like you said low GI/carb diets are best for those with PCOS. But where I have struggled so much with just general healthy eating I’ve decided to ease myself into it gently by starting off on weight watchers. I just know that if I tried low carb or low GI at the moment I just wouldn’t be able to stick to it. But my plan is to get settled on WW and then tailor it to suit me by eating low GI foods.

Add AF cramps to that and it's just generally uncomfortable all round in that region lol.
(((Hugs))), hope it will pass soon:o
Thanks. Let's see how long I can keep it up though. My goal is to lose 2 stone before I allow myself to go back to the GP and get clomid. So that should be good motivation.
Unless you get a BFP before that:cool:

Erm this is wheeey TMI: I dunno whats going on! Just had more spotting watery pinky on tissue couple of wipes. With one little blood clot!! Apart from the clot it doesn't seem like AF at all. And its too early! Unless I really did ovulate on cd 8 but the temps after that don't match as they dipped on 12th. I have become a woman obsessed ...

I haven't done WW myself but think it's a very different way of eating to low carb or GI diets though the support system is good. So to start on one way of eating, then radically alter it may just mean you go through the pain barrier twice. Also what WW deems "healthy" is not the same as what low carbers deem healthy, but what is in fact healthy is reducing the weight by whatever means you can.

The big advantages for me with low carb plans are

    1. You have a big initial weight loss in the first few weeks. I don't know how much you have to lose but ladies online who are looking to lose 5+ stones regularly report losing up to a stone of that within the first fortnight, and sometimes more

    2. Because you are eating high protein foods and quantities of these are unlimited, you don't feel hungry as quickly, and when you do you can eat!

    3. Because you control your insulin spikes and dips, you don't have the same huge cravings for foods which will derail you. Your mind might tell you that a chocolate bar would taste nice but your body won't be screaming for it, and if you give in to what your mind tells you often you don't enjoy it much as it doesn't go with the other food you have eaten

    4. It is really easy to eat out, and to adapt family meals, without people even necessarily realizing you are dieting.

I personally like India and Nerys's Idiot Proof plan as an easy one to follow, and you can even have chocolate and alcohol in moderation after the first fortnight. Using that one I lost 2 and a half stone between Easter and the end of last school term without any feelings of deprivation at all.
  • If my temp dips tomorrow like it has done today, does that mean my af is going to come. Also i thought that af comes 14 days after ovulation, what else can make it late.

Grrr you can put me back to CD1 :(

Its so weird I woke up took my temp and it was still high, so all was well til I went to the loo an hour later. I thought your temp was supposed to go down and atleast give you a warning! So I wasnt expecting anything good or bad, to happen til tomorrow. Im calling it CD1 as I wouldnt really call it spotting. I can always amend it tomorrow if it seems it is later.

Anyway, the only thing Im pleased about is that it means I had a 31 day cycle which is the shortest cycle Ive had since coming off the pill. So atleast that should mean I can get on with the next cycle quicker! But Ive only got about 5 opks left so need to order some more which I was hoping not to of course!
  • Hi All,

Im cd18 today and i have spotting so af could be here tomorrow :(

I did think it was comming as i have been very grumpy for the last fue days.

so bad i could have quit my job lol

but hope to have it under control today x
