Well done to your DS, 96 is a good score. BRA accepted 95 and above 2 yrs ago and last year it was 97 and above so I would advise you to keep it as your first choice cos they may go lower this year. The Headmaster said last yr he thought his intake would be very similar to the year before, but it did rise by 2 points.
Good luck. Stick to your guns!
We are very pleased with the effort he made doing the tests and we know he did his best and that's all we wanted for him. We will still put BRA down as his first choice and fingers crossed for him it will be enough. We're off out today to treat him0 -
Our dd got 112, we were hoping for somewhere in the nineties so we are thrilled! good luck to everyone else : )0

Our ds got 94, he was really pleased with his result but unfortunately it falls into the dreaded middle ground. We are hoping for Ballyclare High as our dd goes there...shall just have to wait and see!0

My brother got 64 he doesn't care and nor do we as we know he tried his best, off to the secondary school I went too0

Postie just been, DS got 83 and is pleased.
I've found it all confusing I must admit, was expecting this to be a percentage but have just found out it's not. Trying not to let him know I'm worried he might not get into the school he wanted as he too thought it was a percentage and had done really well.
His first choice is Sullivan but I'm now not sure if he'll get in. Will still put it as first just incase but not holding out much hope
Wish they would just give it as a percentage as this I think would be a lot easier to understand and not have kids thinking they've done great only to find out later that they were below average.SPC #329 £471/£500 banked

Relieved to find this forum, don't really want to discuss with school mums because of the competition element that is rife in the primary school! Son's result just through the door 96 - have no idea where this puts him or which schools to apply to. I know Ballyclare Secondary only accepts candidates which have them as first choice and don't know if we should try for a grammar school place - any thoughts?
(By the way what do abbrevs ds and dd mean?)0 -
BallyclareMum,
I think ds/dd stands for Darling Son/Daughter.
There is a link in the top post on this page to the Kip Magrath site which has a breakdown of which schools took which scores last year. There is also some info on the previous page here about Ballyclare High.
SpiralingDown,
This may seem a harsh thing to say but how on earth did you get to the point of opening the result letter and not know the format in which the results would be given? This is the third year of this system.0 -
Well done to all P7 pupils that got there results this morning. MY ds got 103 looking into banbridge academy dont no where this leaves him going by last years quintiles he would be in the 3rd one does that rule him out because he isnt the oldest in his family and his sister is in another high school. Feel sort of left in the dark about the whole situation.0

DS got 103 and I'm hoping that is enough to get into Ballyclare High or BRA. It should be based on previous years but i'm a bit concerned that the scores seem to be higher this year. What's the feeling out there on that?0
