for the AQE? It's a number.
100 should be the average. Or more accurately 95 to 105 should be where the bulk of the entrants end up.

Sorry, yes, for the AQE, so many thanks for the response.

Hope it goes well for everyone today.

I have been awake since 4 and up since 6.30 it will soon be time to head to the sorting office to collect the letter.

No matter what the result at least we will be able to make some decisions after today.

Good luck all, mums, dads and children!

Anyone else got theirs? No sign of the quintiles on our letter.

Youngest DS got 109, so should be enough.

    Cheers, Des.

109 is ab fab and is definitely more than enough for any school - last year that was in Quintile 2 and no school refused any child in quintiles 1 or 2. Many Congrats - go celebrate

I am feeling really bitter about a system which leaves some children feeling like they have failed.

My dd sat both tests GL and AQE as the two grammar schools in our town use either one. She and her friends preference being the GL school. DD scored 224 (b2) on gl test and all her friends got A's. As an illustration of the illogical system that has been created she got a higher score in the AQE than her friends scoring 101, most of her friends (who got As in GL) got 98-99 in AQE. The GL schools lowest accepted score last year was 226 and as the AQE rival grammar had a bad inspection last year that score is only likely to increase.

We know things will work out and genuinely believe what is meant to be will be, just now need to support daughter and help her to feel good about her achievements.

We feel very sad for daughter who feels a failure and is now worried she is going to be seperated from her friends, her score in the AQE almost seem irrelevant to her as it was everyones second choice. Now trying to pick up the pieces here.

Just found this for results from last year:
    http://kipmcgrathlisburn.wordpress.com/2011/12/13/aqe-transfer-test-results-2011-gl-assessment-results-2011-northern-ireland-entrance-test/

Seems 97 was the lowest they accepted, so can I presume that he won't get in to BRA?
  • Dazza.

Don't panic. Make sure you keep you first choice top of the list. Cut-off scores can, and do, go up and down each year. Good luck.

No sign of Mr P here yet. Beginning to wonder if he's fallen off his bike...

    Hey Dazza

Well done to your DS, 96 is a good score. BRA accepted 95 and above 2 yrs ago and last year it was 97 and above so I would advise you to keep it as your first choice cos they may go lower this year. The Headmaster said last yr he thought his intake would be very similar to the year before, but it did rise by 2 points.

Good luck. Stick to your guns!
