    stephenni,

I think the BT ones you are looking at are for September 2010 intake and the Kip Magrath ones are September 2011.
  • oh! That is kind of harsh. I knew the format, but the extent of concrete information is rather limited. There seems much hear say and lack of clarity. As I do not know anyone who has experience of this process I have no practical understanding of how it works. I apologise for my ignorance.
  • My son got 119 in his AQE test. Good score and very happy it's over. However this system has to be changed.
  • Your son's score would have got him into Ballyclare High or Belfast High or BRA 2 yrs ago. Last year it would have got him into Ballyclare High. If I were you I would definitely try for a grammar as he is clearly good enough. My DD did the AQE last year and her year was always said to have had a higher birth rate which was attributed to the idea of people wanting a 'millenium' baby! If that was true, there may be a drop in the scores needed for some schools this year. Good Luck.

I appreciate your comment. Thank you..

    BallyclareMum,

    I think ds/dd stands for Darling Son/Daughter.

There is a link in the top post on this page to the Kip Magrath site which has a breakdown of which schools took which scores last year. There is also some info on the previous page here about Ballyclare High.

    SpiralingDown,

This may seem a harsh thing to say but how on earth did you get to the point of opening the result letter and not know the format in which the results would be given? This is the third year of this system.

Thanks for the Kip McGrath advice. Guess nothings certain until you get accepted no matter how much information you source.

    Ballyclaremum,

The bit of my post you have quoted wasn't actually aimed at you at all.

Sorry if it read that way. I had tried to respond to 2 different questions in the same post by putting the names separately.

    :-(

Haha! The whole thing is playing to my insecurities about doing the right thing for my TS (treasured son.) I'm way too sensitive at the minute. The whole process is just stress, stress, stress!!!!!

    Stressful indeed.

Did you see a couple of pages back where someone said that Ballyclare High had had an information evening for parents last year just after the results came out?

I don't know if they plan to do the same again this year but it sounds like a very good idea.

Yes, they are doing this year. Hope to go.
  • Hey BallyclareMum4

Glad to hear that Ballyclare High is holding this info evening again this year (for the 3rd year in a row). I can honestly say it was the only thing that brought some sanity to this whole situation last year for parents who were really confused. I went along last yr after hearing v positive feedback from parents who'd gone to it the previous yr. The school had done a lot of number crunching and were able to show breakdowns of scores across NI and within the NEELNB area etc. which is really what parents need, especially if their child has a score in the 90s. The Head indicated exactly how low he thought they would go with their intake (ie: 95) and they ended up accepting a lowest score of 96 so he was quite accurate. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is able to make it. It might just help some parents to make their final decision. Best of luck.
