Haha, well, it's not as great as it sounds because he usually wakes up at least twice during the night, every night. For some reason he always sleeps best in the morning. Must be his natural body clock ;)

I looked on the hotel's website and it says that the snack bar reopens in the evening which is obviously not the case then, or maybe it just doesn't anymore. I'll make a mental note to hit the local supermarket for cheap munchies if we decide to book here ;)

We nearly booked Turkey too actually! The reason we didn't in the end is because we've not been abroad as a family before and our eldest is terrified of flying. We thought we'd break him in gently with a 2 hour flight first before going further afield ;) We'll probably go to Turkey in a couple of years though if the prices are still as good as they are now. Hope you have a fab holiday and thank you very much for the info :D xx

  • You have a great family holiday too:)

I totally understand about the length of flight. We did Turkey last year when our boys had just turned 3 so have done the shorter flight to Spain and the 4 hour + to Turkey and they have been great on them all so we have fingers crossed that this long continues;)

Thanks for your reply but I think we will settle for our uninterputed nights sleep and an early get up;)

    I don't blame you ;)
Which hotel have you booked in Turkey if you don't mind me asking? If it's any good I might keep it in mind for the future. Not many of our friends go abroad with their kids and those that do tend to do self catering villa holidays so it's difficult to get recommendations for package type deals.

  • We have booked the Grand Cettia Resort in Marmaris, all inclusive.

We stayed in Marmaris last year, although SC, and saw this Hotel and commented on how nice it looks and for a 4* the price came in better than a 3* all inc in Spain for 2 weeks so that made our mind up.

Turkey is very hot, it is by far the hottest Country I have been to, but we like it although this is our first all inc there.

Oooh that looks fab, just had a quick nosey. Reviews are mostly positive on Tripadvisor too which has to be a good thing :D
Wouldn't be suitable for us though because the rooms only sleep a maximum of 4 xx

    Hi,
We stayed at this hotel in Sept 2009. We went half board for the week and booked about 4 days before we went - we paid approx £700 for 2 adults and a one year old.

When we arrived it was about 9pm and the hotel had a small cold buffet available for people who were arriving at night which we were able to tuck into and enjoyed!

The food was generally very good, plenty of choice, both at breakfast and evening meals. From what i remember there was lots of choice for desserts too. We went Sept so it wasn't rammed with people and lots of space in the dining areas. Also for people who have young babies/ toddlers there were about 4/5 microwaves dotted about so you could warm food up for them if you needed to ( we took a microwave steriliser bag with us for our dd's bottles so it was ideal.)

The shop in the hotel was reasonably priced - maybe a couple of cents difference from the other stores.

There was a small play area in front of the hotel for the children to play in with a climbing frame slide etc. The pools were always freezing!

We had to ask to change rooms as we were right over the pool originally and in the evening this is where the "entertainment" took place - it was unbearably noisy. Even in the new room we could still hear it and it went on until approx 1am ( not so great with a one year old!). The beds were hard and the weather let us down ( 4 days of torrential rain and thunder out of the 7 - argh!).

The hotel is not very central and a good 5-10 walk to the main bus route - the buses were always rammed with people pressed up against the windscreen and you had no chance of getting on them so prepare for cab fares!

Overall, our holiday was ok - we were a bit disappointed by the location of the hotel and the weather but we still enjoyed it.

I hope this doesn't sound all doom and gloom - it was fine but it wasn't excellent!
To infinity and beyond - but mostly to Tesco!:D

That's very helpful. Thank you for posting :D
You've basically echoed a lot of the main criticisms that people have mentioned on various review sites so I've taken it all on board.
I know it's only a very small detail but did you notice if there were any vending machines scattered around the place? The package we are considering involves a night flight so we wouldn't arrive until the wee hours and might need water etc. Also, how many pools were there? The agent's sites say 2 but many reviews mention 6?

I don't recall seeing any but there is a shop in the hotel which stayed open til about 10 if memory serves me right ( altho there is a good chance I could be wrong!) If not there is a spar - type shop about 5 mins away which would prob be open late.

I don't remember seeing 6 pools! There was the main one and then at the back of the hotel across a little road there was a smaller pool for kids ( it had two "tiers" to it - maybe that's where they are getting the higher number from?)
