I really don't see chacha being a success here, I think they've missed the boat. Smartphones are becoming more prevalent and who is going to pay 10p a message when you can just fire google up on your phone for nothing and get the right answer.0

I've just joined ChaCha to hopefully help me make a bit of money while I'm stuck at home on the job hunt. Will I still get questions coming in if I have the ChaCha page open in another tab?
***EDIT: Nevermind, a very loud bell just answered that question for me. Turned my speakers down :P0 -
I got myself in a right panic when trying to answer a question as a Factfinder, there are too many tabs on the toolbar and then I could not find the orignal question so I log out quick :rotfl:0

Hahaha, yes, the ding dong. If you're browsing in firefox then it'll automatically switch to the guide session tab as well, so you won't miss a question.
Interesting article about ChaCha, thanks poster... no idea how long this will last tbh, if I can get to one payout by next month it'll be worth it. I'm not expecting anything beyond that!0 -

I've always thought that, and my attitude is to make as much as I can for as long as it lasts.
Having said that, there are lots of strange folk willing to spend their pennies asking the silliest of questions, keep it up I say0 -

The competitors are still going at £1.50 a text - we will have to wait and see how it goes. I think at 10p people are more likely to text in for a laugh, when drunk, lonely or they just cant be bothered looking things up themselves.0 -

I'd agree with that. Since I starting doing FF with ChaCha, I have actually text in with a genuine question that I wouldn't be able to find out from Google. I wanted to know what the song was that someone was singing in the Sing-Off on X Factor. The main songs are often leaked ahead of time, but the sing-off songs aren't, obviously, as you don't know who is going to be in the sing-off until the night.
I suppose I could have googled 'lyrics x,y,z' for whatever Frankie was singing, but I couldn't be bothered, lol. So for things like that, students out on a night out, seeing what funny responses you get... I could see people using it.
I'm more concerned that the need for FF will die out as the question bank is built up and there will only be facs and I'm out of a job!0 -
They must be operating at a loss 10p per text and they are paying you lot 3p and 7p for each one too! What's their business model? They can't be profitable surely.0

its mainly though advertising they have big companies that advertise0

Personally I think that ChaCha will work. Leaving aside the fact that not everyone has/wants a smartphone and the fact that it could well be substantially cheaper to pay for 1 text rather than use up data, there's also a strong appeal of speed and ease. For example I had a couple of people text in for football results, yes, they can be looked up online but it's arguably quicker and easier to send a text and for anything which needs proper searching e.g. where's a cafe that's open till in X, it's much easier to use a proper PC than a mobile IMO.0
