What's chacha? I am not quite familiar with them and guess you can help me know them or join them if ever?

ChaCha is a SMS question and answer service like 118118, Ollie and AQA/63336. Some of us have signed up to answer the incoming questions :)

    Hi Littleange and co -

I'm halfway through signing up to Cha - Cha.

Thinking of doing it part - time, so bring in some money.

    Is it worthwhile?

    How much do they pay?

    Many Thanks,

    Sim.

3p per text for a Facilitator but you're probably applying for Factfinder which is 7p per text.

It's worthwhile if you can do it whilst sitting in front of the telly at night - it won't make anything near minimum wage by spending all day on it.

There's a minimum £50 pay out. The contests they do (and quite often) can be good where they give you £2 (for example) for completing a certain number of texts.

    Enjoy!
  • Signed up as a FactFinder, completed all the training easily and the readiness test... generally answered in about 1-2 minutes apart from 2 of them which took a few minutes longer, one of which was my first ever question... think that'll count against me? I didn't know if there was a time limit. Gutted I've done it on a Friday as I don't know if I'll hear back until after the weekend and I want to get cracking! #impatient

Good luck, I'm sure you did great. They are probably looking at quality over speed. :D

Thanks :) Happy with all my answers I think apart from the one that took me 6+ minutes. It was a question that didn't really have an answer or was based on a wrong assumption so I didn't know how to answer!

I've just applied for this, going to do the test things tomorrow probably as its late now!
Do I need to register self employed or anything for this? I probably won't even earn the £50 a month but I would rather be safe than sorry! Also, can you just log onto it whenever you feel like it, or do you get specific times like a normal job?
    Noob! lol
    Thanks in advance :)

Vikki2k1 - you do need to register as self-employed, but you can get the certificate of small earnings, or something, to fill out too. I'm not sure how much tax we're supposed to pay (because I certainly won't be earning very much per year!) as I haven't filled it out yet either as I'm waiting an answer from ChaCha for a question I asked.

You don't get specific times, you can log on whenever, but I think they sometimes might email you when the service is particularly busy to ask you to come on? I'm not sure, I've only been working for a day so far ;).
  • I just got accepted as a Factfinder this week and started tonight. It's really slow so I used some time to fill in the self employed tax form. I'm nervous though in case I do something wrong.

What do I tell tax credits? I don't want that cash messed around if I'm not going to earn much. Do I wait a week or so and see what my average is? I'll only be able to do maybe 2 hours a day about 3 times a week so nowhere near 16 hours.
    Bank (£10 a week) = 0 - Bank (Leftovers night before payday) = £3.23 - Small Change Savings Jar = £1.71 - 20p Savings pot =£0
