I won't use a toilet brush - yuck! Just the sight of one makes me feel ill.
I use parazone which cleans amazingly well - leave no trace of anything (including limescale) - just squirt all round and leave overnight
For the rest of the loo I clean with disposable rubber gloves and disposalble cloth + bleachSave the earth, it's the only planet with chocolate!0 -
Have recently moved into a hard water area and am having my first struggle with limescale. Usually a cistern block and some Ecoduck are enough but with really stubborn stuff I resort to the Toilet Duck brushes with the disposable heads. Day to day I occasionally give the bowl a wipe by hand with the antibac wipe I've just used around the rim.If you think reality makes sense, you're just not paying attention!0

Also, just remembered FLY lady puts hers in a holder that she fills with disinfectant so it's always awash. Think that's what it said in Sink Reflections (was only reading it this morning). If you think reality makes sense, you're just not paying attention!0

I aint used those toilet brushes for years, nowt wrong with getting down and dirty with an old cloth and giving it a good scrub by hand.
I dont like rubber gloves as they make my hands itchy so I do it bare back!
Obviously wash my hands afterwards.
There are more dirtier things than cleaning your own toilet what we use a naked hand for.Just think of all the money we touch, how many people have touched it before us who have been to the toilet and not washed their hands,or picked their nose or bum!
I am with you. I too clean our loo with no gloves on. Clean it everyday though. Doesn't bother me and i clean my hands when finished.
Hate toilet brushes.

I put a spot of bleach in the bottom of the brush holder to kill any smells and change mine regularly. They are only 45p in Tesco so you can change them for next to nothing whenever you need to.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

I put Domestos in our toilet brush holder. If it does what it claims on the bottle then my toilet brush has less germs than my toothbrush!Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

I clean the loo bare handed too. I was beginning to think I was the only person who did!
I will use gloves if we have a "blockage" but we don't possess a toilet brush and never will.0 -

I have trained my family to put a couple of sqares of paper down before they "go" so that it lands on the paper rather than the toilet bowl then flushes away cleanly. If there is a little remainder on the side of the pan a quick wipe with damp paper so that only the paper touches and not your hands and then another flush and it's gone.
I use one of those in cistern bleachy/coloured block things and top up with the occasional squirt of bleach/toilet duck type stuff if needed. We live in a soft water area so never get troubled with limescale. Maybe this helps and means I don't need a brush.
Thought it was just me that did the toilet paper first routine.
No toilet brush in this household either, just train them to inspect the loo as they leave it, and quickly wipe with another sheet of toilet paper.:hello:0 -
I clean the loo barehanded and have never owned a loo-brush either. I have never seen the point of a loo-brush really and get by quite nicely with a squirt of bleach round the bowl every now and then.0

I dont use a toilet brush either. I flush the loo, then spray all over with my stardrops solution and leave. I then go back after about 5 - 10 mins, flush again, and then wipe with a clean cloth that goes straight into the WM. Ive also trained the children to be careful and wipe if needed. I always wash my hands properly (individual fingers and nails) well with soap afterward, i regularly clean the handles and taps and at the end of the day, i wont have touched anything that nasty.
Apparently you need at least 10 sheets of toilet paper to stop germs getting onto your hands (and not scrunched up toilet paper) and im sure most people dont use that much when wiping their bottoms!!! So worrying about sticking your hands down a loo that is cleaner than your bottom shouldnt be a problem!!!! (unless you dont clean your loo very often, then im sure it would be very manky!!!!)0
