I have just found a punnet of very tired looking grapes in the fridge. What do I do with them????
    Any ideas?

You could do a Victoria Beckham and freeze them and have them as an alternative to sweets.
  • Made potato and leek soup with tired veg yesterday...but it just tastes carp!! Any ideas to salvage it? I fried the leeks, added chopped poato, stock, herbs, black pepper, blitzed it, added splash of cream and creme fraiche at the end...

I hid our grapes in a jelly yesterday:p Still tasted fine, altho I did chop them in half so they thought I'd squashed 'em:whistle:

Peeps have been asking about pears too haven't they.....what about an extravagant dessert of pears--or any such type fruit I guess--poached in a little red wine? We don't drink it ourselves, but it sounds a bit lush;)

Well I am sorry to say that eventually we threw away a few of the chocolate coated strawbs and cherries :(
I managed also to throw away, by mistake I must add, 3/4 bag of perfectly fine kerrs pinks!!! Only realised today when I went to put the huge bag of tatties away that I bought this morning (we use lots of tatties). Anyway luckily we had not thrown the bin bag out (although had emptied bin). Persuaded DH to search and low and behold he found them!! Absolutely fine as I had thrown them away in the packet!!! Luckily am putting most veg waste in compost caddy and cutting down on waste so nothing too sinister in there with them! Silly me, must have been thinking of something else at the time. Anyway enough tatties for two dinners, parboiled today and half cooked for wedges tonight, the other half saturday.

Any one got any uses for a pack of pearl barley? Don't really like it added to stews - much prefer lentils. Any other ideas?

I would use that in a nice soup, although if you don't like it in stew then not sure how you would feel about it in soup.....sorry no more ideas at the mo.
