As far as i was concerned i paid the correct fee it was the ticket attendant on the way that made the mistake, therefore why should i pay for 2 children singles which would have worked out alot dearer for me than if the bloke in the first train had used the railcard correctly

I would be very careful with statements like that. Just because the first guard charged you an incorrect fare does not mean that you have paid and therefore have no more responsibility in paying the correct fare. It is annoying, and I agree, that you are asked to pay again when you think that you have paid for the correct fare. However the matter can be escalated next time it happens and you might not be so lucky in that the guard just leaves it.

If you think that there is an issue with the first guard charging an incorrect fare then I would complain to the company afterwards. I doubt that refusing to pay is the best way forward, for your own sake.

Did he send you a lovely PM too?

As you very well know, having been around this forum for quite a while (despite your "new" account), it a serious breach of the forum rules to copy the contents of private messages on an open post.
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark

Maybe, but sometimes it's good to have people answering questions that actually know what they're talking about...It's all well and good having a place like this where a lot of the members offer ill-informed advice to other members, which could in turn, effect that member and the way in which they deal with their issues. Surely it's better to have people who know about railway law and have first hand experience with how the railway works, rather than Barrack Room Lawyers with no experience of the railways whatsoever, offering advice on railway issues.

Makes no odds in this case does it? How will the OP be traced? He's already got away with giving false details.

Probably not in this case, however generally speaking. Bear in mind though, that just because it doesn't matter from the OP's perspective, what about other members in a similar situation, but not identical, that read this thread as part of their research? It's probably not in the TOC's interest to pursue this matter, unless the OP stupidly gave somebody's address that he knows, or a previous address, and used his own name (which evidentally, he didn't).

I edited my last post by the way, although not relevant to your reply.

If they wanted to they could download CCTV footage in the hope that the OP was known to them from previous occasions, but I agree, it's a long shot and probably not worth their hassle. They'll come again, they always do. :D

Anyhow I'm only interested in helping people with things that are reliable and correct, not verbal slinging matches. Toodlepip! :rotfl:

    Yes tootlepip.

How was this post designed just to "help people" (your only interest you claim) then:

Yes and I have removed it now. The forum does not need defending and the quality of advice provided speaks for itself. :D

Seems more spam for the jobsworths forum than helping anyone!
  • Now my rant is over. One of the things that I stated in my post before it got deleted was this update.

My friend needs my help again so I have to travel by train tomorrow will post on what happens later.
