Claim against Parcel2go courier company?

Anyone have any thoughts as to what to do in the following circumstances - I instructed parcel2go to deliver a large item, which has a value of £240. Parcel2go accept their courier lost the item and they offered me £50 compensation on the basis I only selected £50 worth of insurance cover when I booked the courier. I…

Just as an aside, is the maximum compensation for HDNL not £20? If parcel to go are offering £50, and you didn't pay for the extra insurance, I'd bite their hand off!
