Thanks Brizz :D Some of my closest friends would judge...so I havent let on! DD1 now safely arrived and starting on her next adventure....she knows this is the last bail out on this scale. I will happily help out again but only in an emergency and not because she has stuck her head in the sand. She knows her responsibilities:D

Life laundry started up again - just where does all this detritus come from - I have been at this now for years..........OH will need to tackle some of his accumulations when he gets back. I am hoping with the dark evening I can make in roads this winter. Have stuff to go to recycle centre and a CS bag on the go...there is always a CS bag on the go in this house!!:rotfl: Also loads of paper being burnt on the log burner - keeping it toasty and no need to fill log basket. Win win:)

Life laundry still a way off its final spin!! It has been too nice here to be stuck indoors so have been putting the garden to bed. 2 days of wet and windy forecast so now indoors :) Managed to take stuff to recycle centre. Mainly detritus that has been accumulating waiting for enough to justify the drive there :)

On the money front, which is why I am here after all, dividend pay out from some shares and a few things sold on Eb*y.....just fell into the pit which is my overdraft and not gone on to CCs but hey ho!

Back to work tomorrow after a week off. DD1s whirlwind visit threw me out of kilter a little - money and general plans wise. Trying to catch up but a busy 2 weeks ahead. Got to sit down with the OH and talk money.....or lack of it!

I use to be very good with the 'envelope' system - ie putting money in envelopes every week/month for various bills such as vet, hairdresser etc...........going to go back to it as I let it slide a little. I know there are on line versions and apps etc but I cant get my head round them nor do I wish to pay for them! so I have a row of little purse lined up - car tax, vet , hairdresser, entertainment, MOT so far. Food I am sticking to £60 a week so I just get the cash out when I do a weekly shop. Fuel I pay with a CC which is paid in full each month. All CCs are on DD and the EF I pay straight into a savings account each month. I am planning on a year without buying new clothes or shoes in 2019 so now purse for that.... I am happy to buy second hand if I have to except underwear and socks.........of which I have loads anyway!!

I use to make debt busting a 'hobby' and think I need to get back on it.........this is a start!

I ave a pile of books, CDs and DVDs to get rid of Z!ffit has a 15% offer on ATM - only a couple of books and DVDs for pence have been accepted:( Not worth me sitting here for 30 mins squinting at barcodes:mad: Lots are modern too. Going to CS at least I will get Nect@r point on them which is probably worth more!

I dropped £30 from my pocket in CS on Friday. It was only seconds from it being in my pocket to it being dropped - some one must have seen me drop it and scooped it up before it hit the floor............dont know how I feel about that. If I saw a £30 in the street with no obvious owner I would pocket it but if I saw someone drop it I would hand it back:(

Anyway that £30 has turned into £300 the number of times I have kicked myself about it! Time to move on!! I try to keep to around £60 for food shopping so this week I decided to keep to about £30 just to make up for being that much down...........weekly shop came in at £33. We wont starve:)

So, the NY is under way and its habitual, well almost normal now for me to reassess, make plans, make changes, take on new challenges…. everything but a freakin resolution IMO:rotfl: But there seems to be soooo much pressure to create the New You, make a New Start or look to a New Beginning etc etc …..has New Year now become yet another commercial, advert fuelled, money driven rip off? Or I am just becoming too cynical??. As I write this I am making a silent resolution that I will NOT be influenced by the resolution frenzy!!

I have spent a few weeks now looking closely at things particularly all things financial, health, work and domestic related and yes its been hard and thought provoking, cathartic and scary and I have come to the conclusion 2019 is make or break year. Its huge and its a biggie. There are elements of all those things that have crowded my thoughts that need to change, a reassessment, a new direction.
The reassessment: I started by looking at what I was good at…turns out I am quite good at a lot of things.:D

    Here are just a few:

    1. I am good at my job and I love my job. Its hard and stressful most days. It pays well. It is often a thankless task but I make a difference. However, like the NHS, Education is crumbling and is disappearing up its own backside. Those in positions of power have lost sight of what education is all about especially the field I work in – square pegs are being hammered into round holes to meet targets and tick boxes. Not sure where it will all end but I do not want to be there when it implodes.

    2. I am good at procrastinating too…….but if I say I will do something then it will get done just maybe not in the same time frame as others think it should be done. I am very much in favour of quality not speed!

    3. I am good at knitting – haven’t done any in 20 years…

    4. I am a good mother, friend and wife, in that order. I am a useless daughter and not a great sister – but that is down to circumstances I cant change or control nor do I want to.

    5. I am a good cook. I can meal plan, stick to a list and a budget and whip up something out of nothing – bottom of the fridge soups are legendary!

    6. I am good at eating chocolate – I don’t have any other vices….Ok I watch Coronation Street!

    7. I am good at sticking my head in the sand or snow or whatever other dense medium you can think of.

    8. I am good at keeping things to myself. Which means your secret is safe with me but also, I don’t share, I don’t wear my heart on my clothing. I am sometimes a closed book, even to myself

    9. I am good at swimming and yoga and hillwalking. I am not good at doing more of it

    10. I am a good environmentalist but I am not great at self-care.

Hmmm I think 10 is enough…otherwise it will go to my head.
    :p

The reason for the long post^^^^ is that I am building up to what I plan for 2019. Another thing I am good at Planning:rotfl: Its the execution of those plans that lets me down:laugh::laugh:

Will post later....off to create something from the bottom of the fridge ;)
