Igamogam, I am so sorry to hear about your friend. What a sad end to the year for you all. Thinking of you as you try and make sense and come to terms with it all.
I hope that the New Year is a happy and healthy one for you in all areas of life, wherever it leads you.

Uuurgh....just when I thought I may get a grip on 2018 and get back on an even keel I get a curve ball. My OH had a message form my,well...half sister I guess that she wants to buy my father ( hers too) a ticket to come an visit us this year and would this be OK.........its a long story. My family is flung across all corners of the globe. We are not estranged, we just dont, never have really, live together and only communicate when we have to but we are strangely close when we get together - like we have never been apart - annoys the hell out of OH as he doesnt understand the non-bond, bond IYSWIM. Anyway I suspect there is more to it so I now need to dig a little further in that is it best he visits sooner rather than later..............:o I have a brother and sister ( who I havent spoken to in over 20 years) Our mother died very young and our dad married again and he has children the same age and younger than mine. I dont have a problem with this. But I made it clear his new family was just that, HIS family and I would not consider them as siblings as such - we have a mutual respect and a language barrier - I rarely speak my first language now but maintain my EU nationality:D My parents 'worked' abroad all my childhood - professional globe trotting hippies I called them - I have spent some of my childhood and early in teens in some exotic places..........anyways thats why we are a close but not close family as its the norm for us.........yeah hard to get your head round.
So my difficulty is WHEN not IF this visit takes place. As a teacher my holidays are fixed and there is no point having a visit at any other time. We have plans to visit DD1 in her temporary place of snowy employment - so lots to ponder. I will start with my brother and get a bit more info:( Dad could always hide a lot.
Oops rambled a bit!
So apart from family drama I have been plotting again - getting back into the swing of things - meal plans, change pots, envelopes,Eb*y ( sold something already) hammering down the contents of the freezers and store cupboards and back to the low carb regime - easing slowly into that one as last time I went cold turkey and felt ill, even LOW carb! Have 10kg to shift before the summer - doable. Going back to yoga and swimming and just going to push through the pain in my shoulder which needs an ultra sound scan. Plan a lot more beach/mountain walks at weekends due to it being dark when I get home.....maybe that curve ball wont be so bad after all.....its just emotional and I had just about enough of that in the last few months:(
A birthday in the household tomorrow for DD2 - unusual in that we will be home for it - cant remember when the last time was we were not back at work/school and couldn't really celebrate properly on the day. So its breakfast and pressies at our favourite independent cafe followed by a little shopping trip for extreme sport gear and then a birthday dip in a lake - I will be taking pictures:eek: Family roast dinner on Sunday to finish off the weekend and prepare for return to work.:D
Sorry long post - just had to get some things down!Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Going to be a difficult day today. Have to take much loved family pet for his final trip to the vet. I am the worlds greatest animal lover ....but I am not sentimental...these things happen and its the right choice....but it doesn't make it any easier. He has been quite a character and a part of all our lives for a long time. He was a rescue animal - I wouldn't have anything else - and has had a good life with us. It seems to have hit my OH very hard. Sad day.Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

It's such a hard thing to do and they leave a big hole in our lives when they have gone. Take care. xThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0

I am so sorry to hear that you are going to have to make such a sad journey today and will be thinking of you. We had to say goodbye to our dearly-loved and heroic little rescue cat just before Christmas. As you say, they become a part of our lives - I am still sure I catch sight of him out of the corner of my eye as I go around the house. xx0

So yesterday was a sad day and today is a little emotional too. We have buried him in his favourite sunny spot in the garden and now we have to clear up his bed/blankets etc. In the last few weeks we had to make a few adaptations to the house as he had become very disorientated and confused - kept getting 'lost' and trapped behind curtains. His little partner in crime is wandering around the house looking for him too although in the final stages he completely ignored the little one and pushed him out of the way every time he came near to snuggle up - they always slept together. Anyway, need to move on..........distractions needed so OH is being very MSE and looking at switching electricity suppliers and I am having a clear out of grocery cupboards, bathroom cupboards and study/office......I am avoiding doing work work too!
I feel 2018 can get off to a start now. 2017 shuddered to halt in late October when my best friend died suddenly and then January started with a few curve balls but now I feel I need to slough off a few burdens and get up and at it! We got an unexpected bill from previous electricity supplier back in 2016 - we thought it had been paid but clearly not. It could have been paid from my EF but at nearly £400 that was going to make a huge hole in it. Supplier are being OK however as they are only small they employ another company to deal with repayments by instalments.......and they are being total rissoles. They wont deal with me only my OH even though my name is also on the bill:mad: felt like I was being patted on the head and told to run along and put the head of the household on the phone........but they were quite happy in the meantime to take a part payment from me the patronising arris :mad:I was so close to just paying it by CC but I resisted! I got back onto supplier and they were not happy either and fired off an email to them on my behalf saying that they had to deal with me:T
Need to get to meal planning - half hearted this last week as we were still using up stuff from Christmas,NY and DD2 birthday so havent really had a proper shop or a look as to what is in cupboard/freezer - hence emptying cupboard out. Found a portion of HM chickpea curry thingy and 2 naans in freezer which we had last night and tonight is a chicken and chorizo thingy, also from freezer but couldnt identify until defrosted:rotfl: which we will have with baked potatoes that need eating - just reducing the carbs slowly not quite going 'cold turkey'!!
Right......tinned soup from cupboard for lunch - dont know why I have it as I rarely use tinned soup. Must have bought it for something specific and forgot. Hate waste so we will have it todayThen back to the bathroom cupboard..........:o

Sorry to hear about your beloved family pet Igamogam. They do become such an integral part of your life. I know its early days but are you going to adopt another eventually?
Take care

Oh yes we will..later on in the year when I can give it more time....although his partner in crime is fretting a little and is very clingy so may have to think sooner rather than later:o
We had a card from the vet to today - condolences. Thought it was a little twee at first but on reflection is was a nice gesture. We have always taken out pets to the same practice - small family husband and wife team. I would rather give them our custom than an impersonal chain.Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi
