More A&L problems, what address did everyone put on their YBS form for A&L, there is only local branch addresses on the contact us screens which I assume are no good for Internet based ISAs?

    Found it...

    Alliance & Leicester plc
    Customer Service Centre
    Carlton Park
    Narborough
    Leicester
    LE19 0AL

    Hope that's right.

A&L won't accept the 'transfer all funds to YBS' form YBS provide (for you to print) as part of their online application package and write to your when they receive it from YBS - telling you to phone their disguised premium rate 0870 number.

I suppose now someone has posted the 0800 number it doesn't matter, but are A&L allowed to impose this restriction? I transferred in from Nationwide by post.

Moneysupermarket and the like seem to be unaware (and me) until I read this post that the YBS e-ISA accepts transfers in (it doesn't appear in their searches if you enter an amount over 3000).

I have an A&L Direct Issue ISA (4.75%), thinking about changing it for the E-ISA at YBS. However, does anyone know if A&L are going to be putting there interest rates up as they are very poor now esp.

Also...to change, I apply at YBS 1st? and then wait for the letter since they wont do it by post?

    Thanks!

They told me rates would be going up, hasn't happened yet :)

A&L aren't going to increase their direct ISA rates, according to ThisIsMoney

Although this thread seems to suggest otherwise. I hope the latter is correct, 5.7% will see me up to the end of tax year* very nicely.

    * well actually 30/4/07, but I'll prob switch before then to a better rate to avoid the delays due to the mass exodus of savvy moneysavers.

On Moneyfacts the new Direct ISA (issue 2) rate is shown as 5.00% (5.70% for those with a 0.70% bonus). The new rate is effective from tomorrow (2nd Feb '07). I think that Moneyfacts have got it right.

Yep, apply at YBS first and wait for the green light from them. Be sure to write "TRANSFER IN" in the top margin of your signed application form.

Arrange to "push" the transfer of funds from A&L via the telephone method shown in this thread.

Using the YBS transfer forms to "pull" the money will not work as A&L good as ignore the form, so there is no point sending it as the YBS website advises.

... but no transfers in allowed. A dead horse for the seasoned cash ISA subscriber. Ruffler Bank seems top dog at the moment, so long as you've got £15k to transfer in...

Well I am going to transfer to YBS. Checking on the other thread, A&L have different % rates for the same product (Direct Issue 2), depending on what your a/c number starts with, mine was 604, so still a measly 4.75 :(
