How can you trust any company that allows its employess to lie about their names? If they allow this then how many other lies will we be told ... its the thin end of the wedge.
ivanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
my elderly dad got so fed up with all the calls especially when they kept asking for the lady of the house (mum had died a yr earlier) he lived in a council bloke of flats 8 flights up and was hounded from every company that did double glazing to outside facias etc etc they wouldnt listen to him and kept ringing back at all hours so in the end he invited abt 10 to 15 companys round all at the same time and day and you should have seen there faces when the competitors were arriving. The double glazing guys nearly fainted when he told them to go outside and scale the building to get the right measurements.. kitchen companys that couldnt do anything because he was council.. they started to get a little agreeved at him and he told him now you lot know how i feel mabey now you will stop hounding me... they did lol
oh forgot to say that one friend used to get loads of calls from the same company for everything from insurance to double glazing, everytime she got a call she made a appointment for them to come round when she was at work. they would then ring her to ask why she wasted there time and she said get the hint i dont want your calls but you keep ringing me so i will keep making a appointment untill you stop harrasing me.. eventually it workedThose we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,

Variously I've declared myself a bankrupt, insane, and tried to sell them a 2nd hand carHow agreeable it is to do nothing and then rest afterwards0 -
Oh my god...I know exactly what you mean Kantankrus Mare. Those people have been constantly ringing my house at least twice a week and sometimes it's the same person.
At first I used to be polite and continously tell the person that I was not interested in getting a new mobile phone...then they guy (always seems to be Indian) would start going on about how I could benefit from it etc. And I used to say that I don't care because I'm not really interested. Then the guy used to eventually run out of things to say and keep telling me that I'm missing out on a good deal.
Now I'm so fed up of all these calls that I just say I'm not interested and hang up. Why is it that all these calls seem to be from India? And why do they want people from this country to buy their mobile phones?
I also get those stupid recorded calls where someone says that I've won a holiday or something....that's becoming a regular thing too. Isn't there anyway to get my number taken off their call sheet?0 -
Oh, what a laugh.... For the last 15 minutes, I have been using some of the techniques on this thread.
The woman genuinely did not pick up on my irony and sarcasm and seriously thought I was going to take up her kind offer of a free mobile, free holiday etcetc.
When it started to get to the crunch part of the call, she asked me how much I spent on my PAYG phone per month.
"£0" says me. All goes quiet..cue rustling of paper in background... She was totally stumped. I took pity on her in the end and finally told her of my complete lack of interest, but good while it lasted.

Sorry...
It was very satisfying. I can recommend it to anyone24 hours in a day. 24 beers in a case ... coincidence? :beer:0 -
I have found personally that it pays to be as offensive to call centre staff as possible. Their calls are monitored and the particularly difficult calls are routed to someone more senior (even someone in the UK office if you're lucky) and if you make yourself sufficiently unpleasant they'll take you off the list.
Does anyone know if it's legal to blow a rape alarm down the phone? Quite tempted by that idea but I don't want the Fuzz on my doorstep
If they won't go away you can always amuse yourself by tormenting them, as shown in previous posts. My mum used to keep them talking as long as possible, she would have a cuppa and a fag and reckoned that as long as she was wasting their time, they couldn't hassle anyone else.
I have one suggestion for wreaking justice. You know how some online freebies or competitions demand a phone number? Give them the number of Everest Double Glazing0
