Credit Card wipeout debt??

Hi everyone, heres one i have never heard of...perhaps someone can tell me if it is truth or just the latest scam?
My partner about an hour ago, had a call from a company called Infinity Compensation, asking if he had any credit cards. He obviously said yes, too which they told him that if he had never signed to say he was happy with the limit being increased on his card, then he was entitled to a full refund of this money. His card was opened about 11 years ago with a limit of £1200....so imagine how happy he was to think he would now get approx a refund of £12000!!
According to the lady on the phone this was a new system, and all he had to do was provide his name address etc and they would do the rest.
Thirty minutes later he has another call from someone else at the said company, asking for his credit card number as they needed to take a payment of £500 from the card for 'admin charges'! When he politly told them nothing was mentioned about this, the man started to haggle over the charges offering to reduce them!!
Needless to say my partner asked a few more questions....the man couldnt answer them, got shirty, and put the phone down!!
Martin....is this a new loophole to reclaim, or just another scammer??

Thanks for the reply. Just spoke to him and unbeknown to me he went and gave them his name, address, credit card number....but stopped and thought when they wanted his 3 digits off the back of the card!!! Muppet that he is!!
I just have had him call Nationwide to cancel his card and inform them of the scam0 -
Such things are usually scams intended to get the fee out of the customer. If he'd been lucky they would only have taken the fee he was told about. In other cases they would just keep charging until they couldn't charge any more, then sell the details to others so they could try.
If a financial services company of any sort phones you that's a big clue that you shouldn't do business with them.0 -
aint the consumer scamming the card company by not paying them, in turn another company is scamming a scammer lol.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

cca route is scamming in my book. Could you get away with it in tesco?Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
