DH and I had a long talk about it. He's now trying to decide if he would have opted for circumcision as an adult, though he holds he's glad he was circumcised as a child. I thought I might ask my father about it too, but it might be a bit awkward?
It might be, it depends on the relationship you have with your Dad and how he feels about it. He might not want to talk about it with anyone, lots of people don't. Some talk about it to anyone who will listen.

I like the fact that all the people that are talking about circumcision are females :D

Adult males can do what they want with their penises (within reason!), I don't really care about theirs.

Additionally most soldiers being sent to desert regions are circumcised because getting sand caught in the foreskin can cause serious infections. It's very likely why religious circumcision is common in religions with desert origins.

There is also a certain amount of evidence that occurences of certain male cancers are lower in the circumcised. And a belief that circumcision is more hygienic (unsubstantiated afaik). In the US something like 80% of men are circumcised, most for medical reasons.

That is not true in the UK. Where on earth did you hear that?

And in the US is it not for medical reasons its because people got used to doing it, and its now declining in numbers.

Most people who weren't are glad about it too. Both have grown up not knowing the other way and unable to imagine it. If circumcision were so wonderful why are there not loads of adult men opting for it all the time?

    You said
" I blame puritan attitudes towards sexual pleasure, if it feels nice when you touch it then it must be evil."
So presumably you feel that a circumcised penis isn't a pleasurable thing to touch. Is this what is directing your anger?

I'm surprised you won't listen to the grown males who say they didn't mind getting done as a child, one would have thought that their views were more relative to this argument than yours? Unless you have an interesting story or degree to share?

Who said I felt anger? Its not their fault they were mutilated as babies and never experienced their penises in their natural state. You seem very determined that I not be allowed an opinion on this, why is that?

Its just a fact that a circumcised penis is less sensitive than an uncircumcised one, the skin is exposed all the time so it has to become 'tougher'. That's why circumcised men can er, last longer.

I wrote the wrong thing and changed my post. Re anger.

Of course you are allowed an opinion on this interesting discussion, I just wonder why you think your opinion counts for more than the people who know what it's like? y'know.... the men like LIR's Oh who have have it done.

And that's not a fact at all :rotfl: many differing opinions. Don't quote something as a fact when it clearly isn't.

Edit .... and of course your "mutilation" opinion, I push you back towards my other post (the bit in red) you have a psychological problem with circumcised penii, could be worth thinking about doing something about it.

You completely read that wrong. I meant its pleasurable for the man when its touched, I thought that was clear.

Like many women, I actually prefer sex with circumcised men, however I think that's a pretty flimsy reason to keep hacking bits off babies.

It is a fact, sorry, but it is.

Ok shoot me down, i am an atheist.

What i say don't take it personal as this is how i feel..

MIL (to be/would of been) she was a lasped Catholic, and on her deathbed she asked for a catholic funeral, she had alread choosen to have a natural burial, OH and me even went with her to choose her new home.....

And so the day of the funeral all went well and as to be expected, apart from the service from the priest (or what ever they are called)

I had to bite my tongue becuse of the nastyness from the priest, the words choosen, 'forgive her for her sins' - what the... is this how catholics welcome back into the flock....

Probably why i choose to stay athiest i can't stand the way these 'preachers cast aspertions'

When she had her boys she was asked to make them catholic, she said for the first 5 years they can and then they can choose... when each child turned 5 they left the church.

Maybe because i am a free spirit... child of the late 60's i don't know, but I would never make someone feel uncomfortable and force them to do something they didnt want to do...

Take DS he at the present time is atheist, I didn't force him to be, have said many a time if he chooses to go CoE or Catholic or which ever denomination (sp) then i would support HIS choice.

Children need guidance yes, religion forced down their throat in this day and age.. no

I don't mock those who choose religion and seek guidance, but when they start preaching to me... the door closes.

OP sorry for the mini rant, have you asked your children what they want.... I understand you might want them to join you but have they told you how they feel.

But it's pleasureable whether it's circumcised or not, isn't it? Or have you been a man with an uncut penis, then had it circumcised, then become a woman. I must admit, that would give some weight to your words.
If you haven't, you've never a penis, you have no idea what it feels like, so stop guessing.

And I'm sorry, but it really isn't a fact :rotfl: just because you state something is a fact, does not make it so. You could do worse than having a look at the glands section of the wikipedia circumcision page, it has a list of comparison tests completed.
