Since my coffee break i have

    Put tea on
    Sorted recycling
    Cleared drainer
    Loaded dw
    Folded load from td
    Td x 1

I need to have a bit of a tidy in the living room and put some jewellery out for a customer coming later. Not easy seeing as that's the room i'm packing. I'd better move the stack of boxes in the hall as well.

Well I actually achieved quite a lot of today's list by default. We had a power cut form 8.15am to 2.30pm. As I had just showered (and cleaned it whilst I was in there), I was unable to dry or tame my unruly hair - so I wasn't going anywhere.

Obviously no hoovering or ironing took place, but lots of tidying. Even sorted DS's room with his help (well he couldn't place on anything electronic) and have 2 bags for Cs and 2 for the tip.

Not even had the distractions of the internet or coffee breaks so I am making up for it now.

Going to make tea in my lovely clean kitchen then HHI whilst I am still motivated.

Just wanted to say that I have just found this thread and I am going to be starting here from tomorrow :) I doubt I will be chatting too much as most of my time is spent on writing reviews and other things to try and bump up the household earnings but I am very excited and grateful to those who put the effort in with this :)

    Welcome katykicker.

I've just been stroking next door's kitten, he's so adorable i'm going to miss him when we leave.

I've had a quick tidy in the living room and Ds1 has run the hoover around. We've scoffed a rather yummy risotto and i've put the jewellery out and changed out of my tshirt and pj bottoms. I just need to wash up before my customer arrives, the dw is already running or i'd shove it in there.

I'm going to tackle the 2 understairs cupboards then and that'll be the living room.

ETA customer has been and gone and bought lots of things so i'm happy.

I have made plum jam - easy peasy!

    wash plums and remove stalks
    weigh plums

to each pound of plums add a quarter of a pint of water (4 lbs in a jam pan max)

Bring to boil and simmer until fruit is soft and stones have come away from pulp. Remove stones.
For each lb of plums add a lb of sugar
boil briskly for about 10 minutes

test for set, pot into warmed jars

    Valli's Top Tip

Count the plums - then you know how mnay stones to fish out

Also - Stand jars on a baking tray when filling (I sterilise in oven on trays) then when you knock a just-filled jar over most of the jam stays on the tray;) :o run cold water over your thumb (where the jam hit it) for 5 minutes minimum:( Thumb is fine - no scald marks or blisters:):p
Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY
