I always used Zoflora when I had a cat too, used to use it on the bed and litter tray aswell, never harmed her. In fact I know someone who works in a cattery and they use it all the time! States on the bottle that it can be used aswell. Use it on the dogs room now.One day I might be more organised...........

You're quite right, the care instructions do state that when diluted at the correct ratio, it is safe to use with pets.
It also clearly states: Do Not Mix With Other Chemicals~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thanks for the warning queenie,I've had a look on all my bottles of cleaning bits and bobs collected over the years and haven't found one that doesn't have this warning.I have been using a bottle of diluted stardrops with a dot of zoflora for about 5 years and never had any adverse affects,I do know that mixing bleach with loo cleaners is potentialy fatal, but never had aprob with stardrops and zoflora, although it is very diluted.I will think twice about mixing them now though.
Thanks again

I've never had a problem with Stardrops and Zoflora either. As mentioned above, this is generally only a problem when mixing some chemicals with others that contain bleach, as it liberates chlorine gas. Zoflora does contain a chloride compound, so it's possible that you might get a reaction, but it's more likely that the sodium compound in the Stardrops would combine with it to produce sodium chloride (salt). Play safe and dilute the Stardrops before adding the Zoflora to the dilute solution.0

Edinburghlass wrote:As you are mixing cleaning products I'm going to post this again. I once found my Mum semi-consious on the floor in the bathroom due to toxic fumes after she mixed cleaning products.
I made this mistake too but fortunately the house was being well ventilated at the time so I didn't come to any real harm, but I still shudder at what might have happened had I not had all the windows open.0 -
My chemistry teacher at school had a wife who was a GP. As an introduction to the dangers of messing around in class, he used to warn us that one of her patients had died after mixing loo cleaner with bleach. Like Edinburghlass' mother, she passed out in the bathroom. Unfortunately, she was elderly and living alone, and was overcome by the fumes.
That story has always been enough to put me off mixing things!0 -
Thanks for the warning Queenie! I only ever mix cleaning products with water! Scary when you read the ingredients though:eek: think I will go find the vinegar thread! Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

Even better play safe and don't mix at all.0 -
I work as a domestic cleaner and have one client who wants me to mix bleach with viakal to clean her stone kitchen floor (quite old and scruffy) - there are three dogs confined to the kitchen (and they go in a cage while I am doing the floor). I told her it said not to mix with other chemicals and about the noxious fumes, but she said some other cleaner had advised her it was the best way to clean the floor!
The one time she was standing there watching me I put a smidgeion of the Viakal in the bleach with tons of water, but after that I pretend I use them as the fumes are terrible and I am worried about the dogs(and myself and her) even if she isnt.
This lady is really lovely, but maybe a little naive about cleaning and products etc, having always had a cleaner. PS She loves the dogs to bits if I am making her sound cruel!:)Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01
