Yes, we always do it .........even split them three ways when we took our grandaughter to Rhodes last August for her 13th. Never thought about clothes in my hand luggage though .....always seem to have enough packed in there anyway but a good idea !

I'm in the minority of one then. The person I go away with is a bit OCD on the clothes/neatness front whereas I chuck it all in any old how, so splitting cases leads to "points of discussion." Plus arguments over who's taking up the most space and got more than their fair share - we're worse than kids.:rotfl:
I do always have one change of clothes in my hand luggage to be on the safe side though.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

No, because I have a large suitcase filled with clothes and my OH has four clean shirts, four pairs of pants and four pairs of socks in a rucksack.

We are a bit like that. We still split our clothes though.

I once spent a week in Portual with no clean clothes. I couldn't buy any either because I'm a big bloke and Portugese men are, on the whole, dwarves.

I divide our clothes. I now pack clean underwear in the hand luggage just in case... got caught a few years ago when our flight was delayed for 24 hours. All I had in my hand luggage was 3 baskets that I was trying to prevent from getting squashed lol (only used one of them once) fine lot of good they were.

One of our cases got 'lost' going to Majorca some years ago. It was full of my then teenagers 'designer' gear. It took four days to get it back and it cost me a fortune to buy him stuff he would wear. He sulked the whole time. Now I always split the clothes up into two cases for me and the hubby. I put some casual and some dress clothes for each of us in each bag and have spare underware, shorts and a tea shirt each in the cabin bags. Thankfully this has never happened to us again but at least I am now prepared. A msulky teenager is one thing, but a sulky husband....no chance!

PS: My hubby has a full beard so wouldn't look too good in any of my gear!

Yes, we do split stuff, but often we share a case - last time I flew I shared a case with my Oh and our friend - but we do split stuff even when we are just carrying hand luggage. It might be one bag getting really wet/ spilt shampoo etc. And there are copies of our passports and flight details in both of them.
