So I dont think we are as badly off as them; although you are much more likely to be mugged in London than NYC; however NYC does actually have policemen whereas London doesnt so maybe that isnt a fair comparison.
We do have policemen in London. I saw one today.
However they seem to prefer to turn up and do something after a crime is committed rather than turning up while it's in progress.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

There are lots of crimes where you can commit it not even knowing you're doing it, and still be guilty....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
The starting penalty is 12 weeks with a range of 6 weeks = 18 week maximum.
How long does it take to make an appeal? I bet it is five months. I need to be convinced that this is justice.neverdespairgirl wrote: »it can be a lot faster than that, and there can be an application for bail pending the appeal hearing.

A judge has released a woman who was jailed for accepting looted shorts in what is thought to be the first appeal against a sentence over the unrest.
Ursula Nevin, 24, was jailed for five months in Manchester, but has now been ordered to do voluntary work.
Edited to say - that's very slopy writing. How the hell can you be "ordered" to do "voluntary work"? You can't!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
So, in other words, the original sentences have been so harsh that there will be huge numbers of appeals, costing us all a fortune“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Shakethedisease wrote: »Lets start living on the same planet shall we ? Where do you think convicted rapists and !!!!!philes get housed after release ? And it isn't in council housing. It's in the private rental sector, at the tax-payers expense. So let's not go there lauding private landords, state provided benefits, 'reasonable' tenancy clauses and criminal behaviour. Sensible isn't always a money maker.
Anyway, the grounds for these evictions is very shaky re tenancy law. Just one example below, but I've seen it mentioned many times over this issue the last few days, so is worth mentioning :-

In other words. Let the criminal court do it's job. This man hasn't even been convicted yet let's remember ( trial not till Sept ). And leave tenancy law to concentrate on the home, behaviour within it and it's immediate surrounding areas.
Overlapping the two is a bit of a disaster waiting to happen long term. Since anyone convicted of anything at ALL forthwith, (should this eviction go ahead).. is likely to see entire families/housemates and spouses on the streets on the basis on one individuals behaviour within the household. 'Sensible' private landlords will be very unwilling to house them either after referencing and seeing why they lost their last tenancy. It's a very dangerous road to go down. IF you can take the 'knee jerky' stuff out of it and look at the bigger picture and the precedence it has re housing.
Thanks for the giggle lol ! You're really unashamed about your trolling. Very refreshing.
You too lol ! Lovin your work..
I remember having a discussion on here with you, in which you thought is was perfectly acceptable for you as a single mother to lie about smoking, pets, work and earnings, even about having kids to get accepted as a tenant. After that you stated you would deny inspections etc.
I suspect, and hope that was BS, but it does reinforce my opinion of irresponsible breeders like you.
All of your posts that I have bothered to read, seem to have some very dodgy advice to tenants to be as unreasonable as possible to their landlords. Usually accompanied by some even more questionable legal advice about how you can get away with it.
What's the betting you are regularly evicted and just bitter about it?0 -

My clerk's doing his nut. August's usually pretty quiet, half of Chambers is on holiday, and solicitors are screaming at him to get barristers in court for them....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Combine this with reports now that we have less than 1200 vacant cells. Where will we put all these people? Or do we let other criminals go free? Or do we get cynical & buy shares in group 4 and/or construction companies? It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
I recon we just redeploy the ark royal to floating prison ship. It's just sitting round unused.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

I'm a home owner luvvie, I landed here looking for advice on mortgages a few years back. Am happily married and have been for quite some time now. I support my entire family on my own and pay hefty amounts in tax also. Perhaps you didn't bother to browse those particular posts, or mabye the one asking for advice on 'clicker training' my puppy in other areas of the forum ? So am not sure where your 'irresponsible breeder' stuff comes from tbh ? However, I was a single parent once yes ( through divorce ), and I also privately rented once yes. So sue me..yawn.
I'm not bitter, I just have my own opinions on current affairs, that like you, I share occasionally with this forum. I also run a ( rather successful ) large forum of my own, and have done since 2005. Before that I was a midwife. I know a troll/angry little man/saddo/weirdo when I see one. So run along and crawl back into whatever hole you and your attitude towards fellow posters came out of. No-one actually takes you seriously.. you must realise that by now ? I'm sorry..
Sorry for the off-topic reply everyone. Personal insults I can take.. but at least get the facts right first eh !
Ps I DID deny inspections. I was alone while my husband worked away, and breastfeeding a 6 month old child. The estate agency ( landlord didn't bother to tell us he had the house up for sale when we took on the tenancy )also thought it would be ok to show people round while I was there, even during feeds. I thought otherwise. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -
