I noticed from that 'be a judge' that I linked to above, that includes mugging on the street that can include all sorts of nasty stuff.

I don't quite follow you there?

Burglary is trespassing in premises with the intention of committing an offence therein - usually theft, could also be assault, rape, etc.

Robbery is theft + violence or threat of violence.

The former is either-way. The latter is indictable-only.

For example? the only one I am personally aware of received two years, I don't know, is that harsh?

Drug dealing is usually used to describe possession with intent to supply (Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 s.5(3))

A Defendant can be sentenced up to life imprisonment for possessing Class A with intent to supply, and a maximum of 14 years’ imprisonment for possessing Class B or C drugs with intent.

I should make it clear I know nothing about this case. I just estimate she must have a list of previous you could bash someone over the head with (-:

I understand that, but I don't really know about sentencing but on the info given it just seemed so extreme, that is why it is used by me in comparisons. I may try to find out the facts now I have your opinion, they are not secret are they?

Like I say, the only case I am aware of wasn't dealt with like that.

What are not secret? The sentencing guidelines? They are a public document.

The facts of an individual case aren't secret either, if you mean that. Unless an order is made for a particular reason, which it hasn't been in this case.

I've seen sentences of 14 to 16 years.

2 years - probably social supply?

It is just that on one of the case studies they said that mugging on the street was robbery, but someone else said that robbery is in a shop as opposed to private premises which is burgalary, have I got that right?
