Aqueous is actually pronounce ah-kwee-us as in aqua ... meaning water ... which is why it is named as such as it is a water-based cream ;)

Yes you can buy Avon online, but i wouldnt bother, i have the confirmation of an order i placed online on the 17th February. I am still waiting - so patiently that i dont really want the order now, so i am not going to chase them up on it. I havent been charged, but if i do they will get the sharp end of my tongue.

Thanks for letting me know! I haven't placed the order yet, as per my new rule of waiting 24 hours to go through checkout ;) so I might not even bother if I'm going to have to wait so long for it to arrive.

I used to be an Avon rep so know that it takes a month for goods to materialise from orders at the start of a campaign, but presumed it would be more or less instant delivery online

  • i find that soap seems to make my skin feel terrible, i havent used it for ages now.i only use baby wipes on my face or make up wipes if i have make up on. my theory is if baby wipes are ok for babies then its ok for me. every now and again when i wear make up i always put on moisturiser first, just a cheapie mind you. and always wash it off when going to bed!

  • If you are pally with an Avon rep get them to order samples of skincare for you - I used to get samples to take on my hols.

I use Boots Oil of evening primrose moisturiser - less than £2 and often on 2 for 3 offers - they also do a night cream in the same range and its great (I have quite dry and very sensitive skin)

I use Clinique products (I have hypersensitive skin and am allergic to stuff like E45, as it contains Lanolin) and whilst they are not cheap, you use very little, they last for ages and are lovely. I usually buy at "bonus time" and you get a bag of goodies free, so that lot tends to last me a year or so. I like the "comforting cream cleanser" for my face and the "total turnaround cream" for a moisturiser, with the "eye rescue" for my eyes.

I went skiing recently and used their SPF30 face sun lotion. I got a lovely tan through this, no burning, blotching or peeling, skin nice and moist, highly recommended. I use the factor 15 for the summer which is also very good

Okay ladies I have a question along these lines as well.

I used to use the Oxi-blackout strips (you painted on this stuff that was like nail varnish, waited for it to dry, applied a stip of "paper" and pulled) for cleaning out blackheads on my nose and chin (very oily at times) but I can't get it anywhere now. The only ones I've seen similar are too expensive.

At the end of the month (29th) I've got an engagement party to go to and I want to make a real effort as I've just lost a stone in weight and can finally get into some nice clothes. I've even started doing sit-ups and ab crunches (30 last night just waiting for OH to come out of the bathroom) I would really like to have clear skin but have a nose and chin full of black heads. I currently use "Clean & Clear Sensitive Cleanser" and then Asdas own "Vitamin E moisturiser". Is there anything I can do to clear these blackheads out without me breaking out into spots?

Whilst we're on the subject of moisturizer - can anyone recommend a good eye cream that won't break the bank but that actually works?

I've been using the Superdrug Optimum Results Eye Cream and it's useless.

    Any recommendations greatly appreciated.

Nicki the only thing you can really do is to place your face over a steaming bowl of water and after covering your fingertips with a clean tissue, squeeze gently. Either that or the body shop have a blackhead remover that looks like a tiny spoon with a hole in, you place that over the blackhead and press down and it squeezes it out.

If you're using clean & clear you shouldn't have that many, is the moisturiser you're using too heavy for your skin type?

I get flaky skin on the sides of my nose which seems to go when I use "Nivea Face Cream" so during the winter or when I go to my in-laws (right on the coast and my skin dries out very fast in the strong winds which the area is known for) I use that. Usually I use Asdas own Vitamin E moisturiser for all skin types, could it be that I need to change it?

I need to be careful as I can have very sensitive skin sometimes so I tend to stick to what I know doesn't cause me a problem.

While I remember, any idea how to remove what looks like a whitehead (no head though) from an eyelid? I have three in a row which appeared after I used a cream based eyeshadow and I haven't been able to get rid of them. So much for Clinque make-up being good, I broke out in a rash as soon as I applied it
