Kitchen Diner or Separate?

Could you keep the dining room & just extend the kitchen into a kitchen/diner so you get the benefit of both?0

We have an "L" shaped living room/diner complete with the very stylish table and chairs which we bought from the previous owner. We also have a kitchen/diner and the old kitchen table they left us for free. The kitchen table is used at least twice every day. The living room table has yet to be sat at in over 14 months!
Our next plan is to extend the kitchen to make a bigger kitchen/diner and remove the dining area from the front room altogether and use the space for something else. As others have mentioned, this will be ideal for if we ever have kids as it allows watching them and keeps all the mess in one place. (Hopefully!)• The rich buy assets.
• The poor only have expenses.
• The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.
