We were thinking of Butlins - partner used to go alot pre-us, I've never been. I'll admit I was a bit snobby when he suggested we go this year (money tight, no holiday for two years) but having read this thread, I think it sounds great. Our kids are 8 & 9 and if they're happy and occupied, we'll relax and enjoy.
Thanks to allIntegrity is a dying art!:p0 -

Yes, we did, the time before - it was basic, but adequate.;)
We booked the De-Luxe this time, as hubby is disabled and we wanted a parking space right outside. The apartment was also much more spacious (and had 2 TV's and a DVD, which was handy for the odd time in the evenings - after hours with 4 young children, we were pretty shattered early on in the night............. ).
DL also gives you daily cleaning etc.,
And, as a bonus, a free bottle of wine and choccies when you arrive.:T
The difference in price between silver and DL wasn't that much, and I would opt for the latter if I could.
The Shoreline hotel looks very nice, but we haven't tried that yet.
My daughter and the mob once tried "budget", but that was a little too basic and haven't done that since.
I booked on-line and then phoned them about my husband's disabilities - they were very good - they ensured our apartment was near to the facilities and that is was ground floor.
No complaints about any of it. :j

I think it depends what you are looking for ?
we went basic accom and like i said before it was totally fine for us (apart from lack of microwave / toaster lmao)
TBH when there is so much to do in butlins itself you dont spend that much time in the accom !
we used to get up have brekkie and get washed / dressed then would be out til the late afternoon,we would return to the apartment , kids would have a little play / rest / watch TV etc
then we would get changed and go out for a meal / entertainment early evening ,not returning until 11pm ish
so to us it would have been a "waste" of money paying anymore for accom,
which left us with more spending money !0 -
Look at it this way - At Butlins your not in your chalet much anyway because there is usually something on. So you really only need it for sleeping and breakfast especially if your going half board. So IMHO it's not worth paying out extra for a better chalet which your not going to get all the benefit of. But thats just my opinion.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

I had really low expectations of butlins but we went on a sun 9.50 holiday to minehead last year. It was fantastic! My kids were 4, 2.5, and 6 months and all had a geat time, and will be going back0

Butlins at Minehead is fab:D
I have been going to Butlins on and off all of my life (since i was a baby) and i now take my children there and they love it.....in fact we have even chosen going to Butlins over going abroad;)
We have visited all 3 Butlins camps many times but Minehead (or Mummy's head as my eldest used to call it!:rotfl: ) to us is the best as the beach is right outside the camp, the town is only a stroll away and all of the camp is set out in the best way it could be.
The last few holidays we have only been to Bognor Regis but thats only because we dont drive and i would be mad to take my youngest on a coach at her age as she wont even sit still for 5 mins!
Oh and be VERY careful with 'The Sun' holidays as they are not always cheaper!
We go on holiday to Butlins every year, but if we booked it this year with 'The Sun' Self Catering would cost £140ish for 4nights and Half Board(food included) would cost £300ish for 4 nights but we have just booked a holiday directly on Butlins Website for £148......Half Board:T
So by NOT using 'The Sun' Holidays we have saved £152....
Anyway i dont want to put people off of using 'The Sun' Holidays but make sure you are not being ripped off;)
Anyway i hope my little bit of input helps..:DBest Wishes
