In the rules section on the regular comps thread it says:
This board is for long term, weekly and monthly competitions only. Anything with an expiry date should be placed on the normal competitions board.

Please follow the same expiry code as was placed on the competitions board but use. E: WEEKLY or E: MONTHLY to make it easier for people to see when the draws take place.

Also can you please put the name of the website in brackets next to the competition for e.g. E: MONTHLY win books (bookcompany) so it is easier to spot duplicate posts.

**If you see a monthly or weekly competition that has now closed please pm the board guides so we can move it to game over . This board does not get checked every day like the short lived comps board so please let us know**

Afte a month we will lock the thread but you can still thank OP even though the thread is locked. This is just to archive the posts, it is nothing against the OP's at all purely for archive purposes.

That's exactly right I think :D Padlocked means you cannot post on that thread but you can still enter the comp and thank the OP. Posts can't be edited either which only becomes a pain if the monthly answer changes :D
  • I had a dream the other night that i won a Disney DVD boxset and on the side of the boxset was a chance to win a holiday to New York, when I opened the pack I discovered that i was a winner.

I woke up and felt rubbish!
  • Anybody have experience of how strictly T&C's are enforced?

With particular regard to Channel 4's 'Great Big Movie' quiz, whereby you answer questions and the top 10 people with the highest scores automatically win a prize. In the T&C's it states that you can only win one prize every six months. And yet somebody with the nickname 'acejase' won in march and was on the leaderboard in february too.

There are also other names that keep appearing. e.g. 'actionman' is currently leading the current competition but he was in the top10 last month as well.

Also bear in mind that it takes literally hours to achieve the kind of scores they've got, even if you know every single answer (impossible without Google) it's very time consuming just to actually submit them.

I think most web answer a question comps, or any that go through a handling house like postcards & entry forms do get weedled out if they break the t&c's.
But these leader board type quizzes and games always seem to have their own set of rules, some scores etc just seem impossible to acheive unless you know how to tweak your games/entries.
I guess it's something to learn from.

    Good Luck

How many times do you enter the same competition?

I've only recently started comping and haven't won anything yet (I'm inpatient) and probably never will (never do win anything) and was wondering if it is because i only ever enter a comp once?

Recent example of my crapness - There was a 2000 (I think, it may be more) ticket draw to go to a 4x4 centre and test drive a jeep. Yes i thought, i will get a ticket, especially after a received an email saying that as an early entrant i'd stand a better chance. However, today i received an email saying that i haven't won one! This was the one i really wanted the most as well :(

I think most compers enter a comp once, as most commonly it states in the T & C. Patience is the word, it sometimes takes a while before the prizes will come. And the more comps you enter, the greater chance there is:) Keep up, and I am sue your first win will come when you least expect it:)

It is perhaps not the best hobby if you are naturally impatient. You do need patience and persistance in bucket loads to make a go of comping.
